SEAT BELTS: REAR/OTHER:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY

The defect: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2026-2027 Transit vehicles. The wireless seat belt reminder system (SBR) within the rear seat belt buckles may malfunction and fail to show a change in buckle status.
The risk: A faulty seat belt status indicator may fail to alert occupants to an unfastened seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect the rear seat belts and replace the wireless seat belt buckles, as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed September 21, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in December 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S67. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 10, 2026.

AIR BAGS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; SEAT BELTS

Some 2026-2027 Transit vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B00DF:4A stored in the restraints control module (RCM) when a diagnostic self-test is performed. If there are no observable vehicle symptoms, the DTC will clear using the "Self-Test" application in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). Replacement and/or programming of the RCM is not needed to correct this condition. If there is an observable vehicle symptom and/or the DTC will not clear, follow normal Workshop Manual diagnostics.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; SEAT BELTS

Some 2026-2027 Transit vehicles may exhibit a "Rear Belt Monitor Fault Service Required" message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) while in transport mode. The vehicle's rear belt monitor system will operate as designed once transport mode is exited and the vehicle enters normal mode after a key cycle. This condition does not affect vehicle durability, and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this fault message at this time.
