2019 Honda Accord Owner Complaints

Vehicle caused a SEVERE drivability condition while at highway speeds by sputtering, losing power and auxiliary driver's systems becoming degraded. We were able to drive the vehicle in limp mode to a near service station. They ran diagnostics and determined that there were multiple secondary events affecting the ADAS system. They also checked the battery and determined it was marginally good. We managed to drive the vehicle in degraded mode to our home and we changed the battery the following day. Upon doing so, all affected systems became available again and the vehicle's driveability profile was restored. This behavior is incredibly unsettling and UNSAFE. A vehicle that is so sensitive to electrical fluctuations should have BETTER warning systems that would prevent, or at least advise the driver, that an unsafe condition will occur unless the battery is promptly replaced. This behavior could easily cause an accident if the driver is unprepared to react to the vehicle sudden and unpredictable shutdown of engine power and safety systems. This needs to be investigated and corrective measures need to be promptly proposed to affected vehicle.

I was driving on the highway in Michigan, the speed limit is 70 mph. All of a sudden, I noticed that my car acceleration was not working. It ended up my engine misfired and in doing so, I could not go more than 20 mph on the actual highway!!! it was absolutely terrifying, even when I put on my emergency lights, I had to find a place to safely pull aside. I still had to pull out in front of someone to try to get off the exit, so pulling out in front of someone at 20 mph on the highway was petrifying. Once, I finally was able to pull into a safe place. I immediately called my insurance company and Honda about the misfiring of my engine. My car was then towed to a Honda dealership, where technicians diagnosed a blown head gasket caused by coolant leaking into a cylinder. The only warning light was the “check engine” flashing light when I was unable to drive more than 20 mph. My vehicle went limp. The repair required replacement of the head gasket at significant personal expense About $6k +.

My car began to not turn on. Took it to the dealership, was told it was the turbocharge being loose. They saw coolant leaking. Paid for the fix. Few days later, car lost power and entered lint mode. Took it back and with simple camera work they check the gasket was leaking. Told that since the turbo before wasn’t working as intended, the gasket became thin. Repairs are above 6k, had no warning lights. Seems this is a common issue.

The first problems began in March 2026. No warning lamps turned on. My car began jabbing as I accelerated and a couple days after when I was breaking too. The first mechanic said it could be a coil but the problem didn’t stop after changing it. I then took it to Honda and they confirmed that it was a blown head gasket and that they were surprised no warning messages had appeared. I took it to Empire Automotive to get it fixed, I paid 5K to get it fixed. Three months after getting it fixed I am getting on the freeway and my car stops accelerating. The car behind me had to swerve on the side to avoid hitting me. I was able to move over to the side. Again no warning messages had shown up. I took it back to the mechanic and they confirmed the head gasket had blown out again.

I received a warning light indicating my car was reaching maximum internal temperature. I immediately shut off the car, then took it to the Honda service center the next morning. They did an inspection and determined there is a leak in my head gasket at cylinder 3. There were no warnings prior to the time of failure. I had recently had my coolant flushed as part of general maintenance and I never missed an oil change. Vehicle inspections at the Honda Service Center regularly showed no issues.

My car was stalling on the highway not going over 40, a perfectly maintained 88k mile car that is stock and only used for work and light leisure. The weak engine head gasket is to blame for coolant seeping into cyclinder 3. A very known defect with the 1.5 turbocharged engines recently. The safety of me and passengers was at risk because that’s a 50mph+ highway and my car didn’t go to 50. Yes the problem was confirmed by dealership / manufacturer. Zero warning lights to this day.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the air bag module warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The warning light was intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that while the front passenger seat was occupied, the warning light remained off but was occasionally illuminated while the seat was empty. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V332000 (Air Bags) as a possible cause for the failure; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 185,000.

The 10th Gen probably with the head gasket and fuel injector Dashboard be lit up like a Christmas tree every light on. This been a problem with a lot on the 2018-2022 Honda accords when driving it lose speed going real slow lose power, and you have to try get your car off the road

I can’t drive the car normal have to drive 60mph or under the radio went out and Honda can’t seem to figure out why so I can’t connect CarPlay. Myself and my kids are at risk due to the car randomly cutting off at any given time. I took it to Honda twice and my car has not been checked they constantly say they’re backed up but don’t have any rentals in stock. Can’t get the car inspection done because the lights are on. No they’re were none the light randomly popped up and said it was a camshaft sensor piece I got that change and the lights are still on. Took it to a mechanic to have it diagnosed and they’re stating it’s the turbo. Which is pretty annoying the car maintenance is don’t regularly and I’ve only had it for a year and a half.

Honda accord 1.5L engine had a blown head gasket at 94,000 miles. Local mechanic has advised that this engine has been an issue with blowing head gaskets early. Took it to dealership and they confirmed head gasket leaking. Was driving on highway and car went into limp mode and all the dash lights came on and car lost acceleration.

I am reporting a premature and dangerous failure of the engine head gasket on my 2019 Honda Accord Sport (1.5L Turbo engine, 68,220 miles). While driving, the vehicle suddenly lost power due to severe engine misfires. Simultaneously, the dashboard experienced a total cascade of safety system failures, illuminating warning lights for the Check Engine Light, Electric Parking Brake, Traction Control (VSA), Road Departure Mitigation, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The vehicle currently in the authorized honda dealer where technicians officially diagnosed a blown head gasket leaking coolant into Cylinder 3. This is a widespread, well-documented manufacturing defect with Honda's 1.5L Turbo engines. I request that the NHTSA launch a formal safety investigation into American Honda for these premature head gasket failures to force a mandatory safety recall.

A motor mount bolt sheared causing the engine to shift violently making the vehicle undrivable. The car was driving in a residential area traveling at a low rate of speed, making a right turn when it occurred. Had it happened on a highway, the result could have been catastrophic. The car was towed to the dealer where it was purchased. The dealer stated that since the vehicle was out of warranty, they would not make any exceptions. We have reported this to Honda Corporate and are waiting for a response but felt that because of the safety concerns we should also report this to NHTSA. The head gasket has failed and Honda knows this is an issue. There is a lawsuit in California about the head gasket failing. With it failing the whole engine is at risk for being ruined. This is going to cost $4000-$10,000 for people to fix depending on the damage it causes the engine. I personally lost acceleration on the freeway while going up a hill and everyone around me going 65-80 mph. I have 11 warning lights on my car right now and it started overheating today with a warning stating that the engine was hot and to stop driving immediately. We had to get towed to the mechanic for the 2nd time this week. When searching online I realized this was a known issue and about the class action lawsuit.

I have keep regular maintenance up on my car. Recently all of the lights began flashing on the dashboard. I had oil changed, reset the battery, and all ignition coils. The lights came back on within a week. The car stalled while driving it and had to pull over inside of the highway, turn it off, wait a few minutes before turning it back on.

I have a 2019 Honda Accord the paint is completely chipping off and the clear coat on the roof and the hood is completely gone they had a recall on the white models doing the same thing I have the midnight pearl blue color the car is 7 years old I haven't even had it 5 years take very well care of it brought it to the Honda dealership in Palm harbor Florida the service manager Jared sent me over to the Buick dealer to get an estimate of almost $6,500 is what it would cost to get this fixed I've been trying to contact them for the last 3weeks never received a phone call back or heard anything and then in order for me to file a claim through the corporate of Honda I had to go and get the estimate from the gentleman at the Buick dealer and have an email sent to me because they refuse to contact me.. this doesn't even include everything else that I've had wrong with the vehicle prior to all this I've had to replace the head gasket fuel injectors bring the head of the motor to a machine shop to have it shaved down because there was a big gash from the manufacturer instead of them pulling the plastic off you could see someone cut it which ended up costing me another $300 this has been nothing but a nightmare. You can see on the edging of the hood all the paint is coming off and all on the edge of the back window and roof.. on top of paying almost $30,000 for this vehicle not even 5 years later this is the only vehicle that I own and the reason I bought it was because I thought it was going to be reliable it's been nothing but problems I take very well care of the vehicle always have it detailed and clean it's barely parked in the sun I have a carport it's always in the shade this is not from the Sun this is due to a defect from the factory when they painted it it's happening to other colors on the same make and model vehicle.. I have a 2019 Honda Accord Sport 1.5. I was driving on the freeway last week and my car did not allow me to accelerate anymore. Car went to an unsafe highway speed and it was hard to get to a shoulder where can safely stop. I felt my safety was compromised by this issue. All the warnings appeared on my dash and all the lights went on. No warnings prior to this problem. I am needing a new head gasket and repairs are estimated over 5K. I know there is a class action lawsuit against Honda because this issue is extremely common. I need help. I can’t afford these repairs and I depend on my car for transportation to work and child care daily. Please hole Honda accountable for this is very dangerous and very common.
