2019 Honda Accord Driver assistance Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I have keep regular maintenance up on my car. Recently all of the lights began flashing on the dashboard. I had oil changed, reset the battery, and all ignition coils. The lights came back on within a week. The car stalled while driving it and had to pull over inside of the highway, turn it off, wait a few minutes before turning it back on.

I have a 2019 Honda Accord Sport 1.5. I was driving on the freeway last week and my car did not allow me to accelerate anymore. Car went to an unsafe highway speed and it was hard to get to a shoulder where can safely stop. I felt my safety was compromised by this issue. All the warnings appeared on my dash and all the lights went on. No warnings prior to this problem. I am needing a new head gasket and repairs are estimated over 5K. I know there is a class action lawsuit against Honda because this issue is extremely common. I need help. I can’t afford these repairs and I depend on my car for transportation to work and child care daily. Please hole Honda accountable for this is very dangerous and very common.

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2019 Honda Accord LX. While driving, a yellow “Brake System” warning light appeared on the dashboard. The vehicle continued to drive normally, and no obvious braking problems were noticed at that time. However, the warning remained illuminated while driving. In addition, I experienced intermittent episodes where pressing the accelerator pedal did not immediately increase vehicle speed. There was an approximately 1–2 second delay before the vehicle responded to throttle input. This occurred while the vehicle was in motion and could create a potentially dangerous situation in traffic. After turning the vehicle off and restarting it, the warning light disappeared. The issue appears intermittent. The brake fluid level is normal, and no diagnostic trouble codes were detected with a basic OBD-II scanner when the warning was present. After researching the issue online, I found multiple owners reporting similar symptoms involving brake system warnings and temporary loss of accelerator response on Honda Accord vehicles. I am concerned that this may indicate an electrical, braking system, sensor, or software-related defect that could affect vehicle safety. I request that NHTSA investigate this issue and determine whether a broader safety concern exists.

Complaint Regarding Ongoing Issues After Turbocharger Repair – 2019 Honda Accord I am submitting a complaint regarding ongoing issues with my 2019 Honda Accord after a turbocharger-related repair. The initial diagnostic code associated with the vehicle was P2563 (Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance). After the turbocharger/wastegate repair, my vehicle began displaying multiple system warnings, including: * Emissions System Problem * ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) warning * Collision Mitigation System warning * Lane Departure/Lane Keeping Assist warning * Electric Power Steering warning * Stability/traction control warnings * TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning After the repair, the vehicle began jerking and experiencing a loss of power. Multiple warning lights appeared. While the warning lights temporarily cleared after a couple of vehicle restarts, they later returned and continue to reoccur. I subsequently took the vehicle to Honda, where I was informed that a sensor required recalibration. Despite having the sensor recalibrated, the issues have continued, and the warning lights continue to return. I am requesting that Honda investigate whether the repair, wiring, sensors, modules, calibration, or the turbocharger system itself may have contributed to these ongoing problems. I have also noticed that many Honda Accord owners are reporting similar turbocharger-related issues and multiple warning lights appearing. This appears to be a very common issue among affected vehicles, and I believe it warrants further investigation to determine if there is a larger underlying problem affecting these vehicles. I am requesting that Honda review this matter, document these concerns, and provide a proper resolution. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

SRS weight sensor failure-- triggers the dashboard warning light and disables my passenger airbag. My SRS light is on continuously. There is a current Honda recall for this issue for my make and model; however, do to my VIN not being listed, the Honda dealership wants to charge me a diagnostic fee plus the repair costs for the exact issue that the current recall is listed for. My VIN needs to be added. I should not have to come out of pocket to pay for this when I'm having the exact issue listed in the recall. My SRS light being on continuously is a MAJOR Safety concern because it disables the airbags--so in the event of an accident, the airbags will not deploy. I contacted Honda Corporate and they created a case--Case number 16432964 for this issue--but they told me it would be possibly months to get anything done and I would still have to pay out of pocket first. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 26V-332 CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION: 2018-22 Accord, Accord Hyb Seat Weight Sensor Recall Exp RECALL DATE: 05/21/2026 I have a service appointment on XXX @830AM at the Honda of Owings Mill Address: [XXX] Phone: [XXX] I am also experiencing the phantom braking issue (unintended activation of the Collision Mitigation Braking System) when there is no object in sight. The fix seams to be updating the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), which often require software updates and sensor recalibration. The dealership wants to charge me for this as well. When driving down a state highway in town, about 40-45mph, with no cars or objects in front of me and within the lanes - aka nothing unusual - my dash lit up with the orange "BRAKE!" warning and then slammed on my brakes. I had no idea at the time that my vehicle could even do that, as I'd had it at least three years and, while I'd had false warnings because of a line on the road or something, it had never done that. Luckily, there were not cars close behind me, because it was disorienting and took a moment to realize what was happening and adjust my driving to correct it. It was incredibly concerning, and I searched for what feature would even do that and how I could turn it off. I've told many people about it since, as it's the kind of thing that makes using "safety features" of a vehicle untrustworthy, let alone what could've happened had there been cars behind me at that moment.

My car started getting hot, began to overheat. I was on my way home on freeway. Second lane from slow lane. My car began to loose power, I could no longer excelerate. There was a big rig coming up behind me he was not slowing down as he got closer began honking I was trying to flag him that I could not move, as I was trying it started to go like 5 miles per hour where i began slowly to get over, cars in the other lane slowed down. Big rig went around me and avoided any collision. Thank God. I slowly made my way home on the streets with heater blasting. I towed my car to the dealer. I was told, my head gasket needed to be replaced, more than likely I would need a knew engine. Dealership said it was because when taken my car in for service I did not bring to the dealership. Cashier told me that there have been several incidents as mine.To my surprise I googled 2019 Honda Accord engine, and there were many with the same issue same car same year. Yet no recalls! I was lucky not to have been killed or have caused a multiple car collision. Are we waiting for someone to be killed to recall these engines. I missed several days of work, borrowed cars and rented a car to get back and forth to work not to mention the tramatic experience of a big rig coming at you honking on a FREEWAY. A week prior to this incident, my lights on the dashboard came on. I did call the dealership to set up an appointment. At that point they were no signs of overheating. I have taken my care in faithfully for oil changes where all fluids are checked, i was not told not once that any fluids were ever low, last visit was approx 5 months ago. I have called to have them send me all receipts. However in hindsight I do not need theses records as it has been proven by other people they have had the same experience. We are not talking about a faulty air conditioner we are speaking of an engine, in my case power failure. In the even records of oil changes and dealership diagnosis is required. I can email.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while at the stop sign to access the feeder road, while accelerating, the lights started flashing on the instrument cluster. The vehicle failed to accelerate above 5 MPH. The driver turned on the hazard lights, made a U-turn, and pulled over a block away at a stadium. The vehicle was turned off. The contact retrieved DTC: P0301, P0302, P0304, and P0300. A code reader was used to erase the codes. The vehicle was restarted and driven as designed. While the contact’s wife was driving, the vehicle failed to exceed 5 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a routine recall repair on the fuel pump and software. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was not related to a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

My 2019 accord gets stiff at speeds over 25-30mph and resists driver input, so much that you tend to over-compensate and make constant steering corrections every second so you don't crash. The car does not track straight at any speed, and does the same when the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) is off or on. When LKA is active the car will not go straight on a straight smooth road. The car wanders dangerously from the right to left line markers and often rides on the markers bringing you very close to other cars and then jerks the car back to the opposite side of the lane and continues to do the same back and forth like a drunk person is driving the car. Also the Driver Input Required amber light comes frequently on a straight road with highly visible lane markers. It is extremely tiresome to drive the car and try to keep it in its lane, even when I disable all the "driver-assistance" features. This is because the steering has a mind of its own and stiffens up. It resists the slightest driver input so you have to put more strength into it to make it go where you want to, but once the steering gives up fighting you and lets you do it, it results in overcompensating and constant steering corrections by the drive left-right, left-right, just going down in a straight smooth freshly paved road. It’s been over a year and the dealer has yet to detect anything wrong, they tell me my vehicle drives perfect, honda dealer after dealer.
