The defect: Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain 2013 Jaguar XF vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands, or "Zone A." Unless included in "Zone A" above, Jaguar is recalling certain 2010 Jaguar XF vehicles, originally sold, or ever registered, in Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, or "Zone B." Unless included in Zone A and Zone B above, Jaguar is recalling certain 2009 MY Jaguar XF vehicles, originally sold, or ever registered, in Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming or "Zone C." These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
The risk: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
The remedy: Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag assemblies, free of charge. The recall began June 27, 2018. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is J071.

INSIDE CAR INTERIOR LIGHTS COMES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING ON IT'S OWN. EVEN AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING THE INTERIOR LIGHT WILL COME AND OFF BY THEMSELVES FOR APPARENT REASON. I'VE GOOGLE AN SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON JAGUAR WEBSITE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE BEEN REPORTED SINCE 2011 WITH NO RECALL TO FIX THE ISSUE AN AS OF TODAY I'M STILL EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. ENGINE MAKES A TICKING NOISE WHILE IDLING AND WORSE AFTER ACCELERATION. AS IF SOMETHING IS LOSE PUT IN SHOP A FEW TIME THEY CHECKED THE TIMING CHAIN, LIFTERS, AND USED AN STETHOSCOPE TO FIND THE PROBLEM STILL CAN'T. JUST TOLD ME TO DRIVE UNTIL THE ENGINE GOES OUT.

RECALL ALERT: JAGUAR XFFACEBOOKTWITTER POSTED: DECEMBER 9, 2008 JAGUAR IS RECALLING ABOUT 3,800 2009 XF SEDANS DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL DEFECT THAT COULD RESULT IN A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS. IN A DEFECT NOTICE FILED WITH THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION, JAGUAR EXPLAINS, "THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SPEAKER WIRES MAY FRACTURE AS A CONSEQUENCE OF AN OVERLY AGGRESSIVE TICK-TOCK SOUND WAVE FORM, THE VOLUME OF WHICH IS VEHICLE SPEED DEPENDENT." THE XF MAKES THE TICK-TOCK SOUND WHEN ITS TURN SIGNAL IS ENGAGED - AND AT HIGH SPEED, THE SOUND MAY BE LOUD ENOUGH TO CRACK THE RUBBER COATING ON SPEAKER WIRES. "IN THE EVENT OF A SPEAKER FAILURE, THE FOLLOWING AUDIBLE NOTIFICATIONS WILL CEASE TO FUNCTION - DIRECTIONAL INDICATORS, SEAT BELT WARNING, 'LIGHTS ON' WARNING, DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, DRIVER INTERVENTION (ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL EQUIPPED VEHICLES) AND SEAT MEMORY." DEALERS WILL MAKE A SIMPLE SOFTWARE ADJUSTMENT, FREE OF CHARGE, TO FIX THE PROBLEM. OWNERS SHOULD RECEIVE A LETTER IN THE MAIL EXPLAINING THE RECALL THIS WEEK. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE XF HAS BEEN RECALLED SINCE IT CAME ON THE MARKET JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO. THE EARLIER RECALL, INVOLVING A SEATBELT DEFECT, WAS A FAR MORE SERIOUS SAFETY RISK - BUT THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED TWICE IN SUCH A SHORT TIME MIGHT CONCERN SOME BUYERS. THE XF IS A MECHANICALLY COMPLEX CAR WITH MANY FEATURES NOT FOUND IN OTHER VEHICLES, FROM A SHIFT KNOB THAT SITS INSIDE THE CONSOLE WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND RAISES INTO THE DRIVER'S HAND AFTER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, TO A TOUCH-SENSITIVE GLOVEBOX LOCK. JAGUAR HAS HISTORICALLY FACED QUALITY CONTROL PROBLEMS. THE XF IS A SHARP-LOOKING CAR WITH A POWERFUL ENGINE THAT HAS WON PRAISE FROM MANY REVIEWERS, BUT QUALITY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR COULD DEFEAT JAGUAR'S EFFORTS TO REFORM ITS IMAGE.

MY 2009 JAGUAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR ALMOST 1 YEAR, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE WIRE HARNESS, HOWEVER THE WIRE HARNESS WAS REPLACED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. I PURCHASED THE 2009 JAGUAR AT CAR MAX IN 2012, AFTER ABOUT 3 MONTHS IT WAS IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND ANTIFREEZE WAS SMELT, THEY PUT ME IN A RENTAL AND MY CAR WAS RETURNED AFTER ABOUT 1 WEEK. THIS WAS A THIRD VEHICLE FOR MY HOUSEHOLD SO IT WAS BASICALLY GARAGE KEPT, AFTER ABOUT 1 YEAR( WITH FOLLOWING NORMAL OIL CHANGES, MY ABS/EBS AND OTHER LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON, IT WAS TAKEN TO CAR MAX WHERE THE PUT ME IN A LOANER CAR AND KEPT MY CAR FOR ABOUT 2-3 MONTHS, STATING WIRE HARNESS...FAST FORWARD, THE SAME LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN AND AGAIN IT WENT TO THE SAME MECHANICAL SHOP ON JUNE 19,2018 AND ITS STILL IN THE SHOP NOW! PLEASE HLEP

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JAGUAR XF. WHILE THE FUEL WAS BEING DEPLETED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. ONCE MORE FUEL WAS ADDED, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JAGUAR GREENSBORO (1205 BRIDFORD PKWY, GREENSBORO, NC 27407), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

THE 2009 THE SPEAKER FAILS, THE FOLLOWING AUDIBLE NOTIFICATIONS ARE IMPACTED: TURN INDICATOR, SEAT BELT WARNING, LIGHTS 'ON' WARNING, DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN WITH KEY IN IGNITION, DRIVER INTERVENE (ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL VEHICLES ONLY) AND SEAT MEMORY. THE AUDIBLE SEAT BELT WARNING IS TO REMIND DRIVERS TO WEAR THEIR SAFETY BELT. IF THE AUDIBLE WARNING IS NOT PRESENT, DRIVERS MAY NEGLECT TO WEAR THEIR SAFETY BELT, THEREBY INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
