2024 Jeep Gladiator

On September 6, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE24024 to investigate allegations of engine compartment fires in model year 2021-2023 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles. Most reports described fires starting on the front passenger side of the engine compartment while the vehicle was turned off, with several originating specifically at the electrohydraulic power steering pump's electrical connector. Following the opening of the investigation, ODI sent an information request letter to the vehicle manufacturer to assess the cause, scope, and frequency of the alleged defect. Additionally, ODI continued to receive reports of vehicle fires with a likely origin at or near the power steering pump. Throughout this investigation, ODI continued to discuss these new reports and the information request letter response with the manufacturer. On June 4, 2026, FCA issued recall 26V363 to address power steering fires caused by high electrical resistance at the pump's connector. Recall 26V363 includes the 781,459 vehicles identified in the opening resume of this investigation and expands the population to include all 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles produced between June 24, 2020, and December 2, 2024.This recall directly covers the vehicles and issues examined in this investigation. Accordingly, ODI is closing this investigation and is not requiring FCA to provide any additional information about this issue at this time. The Agency will continue to monitor field performance and reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. -The power steering pump electrical wiring harness/connector. The vehicle is subject to active Mopar safety Recall 21D (NHTSA Campaign 26v-363) for an un remedied vehicle fire risk caused by high electrical resistance. Yes, the vehicle and affected component are available for inspection upon request. -Due to the electrical fire risk, the manufacturer has issued an urgent federal directive stating the vehicle must be parked outside and away from structures until it is repaired. Because the manufacturer has not finalized or distributed a permanent replacement remedy, I am forced to store a known fire hazard near public spaces, putting my property and the safety of others at risk. Furthermore, a sudden loss of power steering assist while driving poses an immediate crash hazard. -Yes. The vehicle was brought to an authorized Mopar dealership for inspection on August 7, 2026. However, the dealership marked the repair order as "PARTIAL-COMPLETE" because physical remedy parts do not yet exist. Despite this lack of a physical fix, the manufacturer updated the administrative database to show "0 open recalls" in an attempt to prematurely close my customer retention file. -No active warning lamps or drivability symptoms have appeared yet. The "failure" in this instance is the manufacturer’s structural failure to provide the legally required, permanent safety remedy within a reasonable timeframe. The safety hazard and park-outside restrictions have been active and ongoing since the recall notice was formally issued.

This happened on a 2024 Jeep Gladiator. When parking I went to set the parking brake and as I pulled the handle I heard a pop and felt the handle release all pressure. With the handle up there was no braking effect. Dealer repaired by hooking the right wheel cable back onto the bracket located under the center console, and then adjusting.

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Gladiator. Upon research, the contact discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V363000 (Steering); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact had not yet received the notification of the recall but was concerned about the fire risk associated with the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. Factory installed Corning Gorilla Glass became marred and scratched from windshield wiper during rain fall. Glass also developed a crack in the right lower corner of the glass from unknown source (not a stone or road hazard). I requested the repair be covered under the original factory warranty and the repair was rejected. Per the dealership the glass is covered for 24/24 if NOT factory installed. It's covered for 12/12 if it IS factory installed. My windshield is factory installed and out of the 12/12 but still would have been covered under the 24/24 warranty otherwise. I see a lot of complaints about the Corning Gorilla windshields failing.

I was driving my 2024 Jeep Gladiator Willys Texas Edition on the FM 3180 and I 10 when the vehicle experienced a complete electrical failure without warning. The instrument panel began flashing, the vehicle lost power and became completely inoperative while I was traveling. I was able to get the vehicle off the roadway, but it would not restart. At first it would start and flash, windshield wipers were on, even though control was off. It would go about 10 feet and die again for several minutes. I eventually got it off the road and into a parking lot where it beeped and clicked, but would not turn on. The vehicle had no electrical power. A roadside jump box had no effect. The tow operator had to manually override the transmission to place the vehicle in neutral so it could be loaded onto the tow truck. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and remains inoperable. This vehicle previously received a software repair/recall/update in 2025. I do not yet know whether this failure is related to that recall. This was a serious safety event because the vehicle completely shut down while traveling on a high traffic area. I believe this defect could create a significant risk of a crash if it occurs at a high rate of speed. I had no control of the vehicle at times.

My 2024 Jeep Gladiator is subject to Recall 21D (NHTSA 26V-363). The recall warns of a fire risk while parked due to overheating of an electrical connection. Owners have been instructed to park away from structures and other vehicles, but there is currently no remedy available. I am concerned about the safety risk and the lack of an available repair.
