2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Problems

On February 3, Tuesday drove home from work. The battery light came on. I Drove to AutoZone and they placed it on Diagnostic reader. The diagnostic reader said that the battery had no charge. They told me I need a new battery. I replaced the battery. The next morning, I placed the jeep into auto start. So the Jeep can warm up. When I went outside, there was smoke coming from underneath the hood of the Jeep. I quickly turn off the Jeep and pop the hood. My husband open the hood and can see smoke coming from the alternator. He turned around to turn off his vehicle that was running. I started to video recording the incident and stopped it right away when I started to see flames coming out of the alternator. My husband and I quick action was to grab snow that was next to the Jeep to throw it onto the alternator to put the fire out. It took multiple piles of snow that the husband went and grabbed the fire extinguisher and sprayed the alternator to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was extinguished. We kept an eye out to make sure everything was good. We left the hood up to cool things down. We called morgan Towing to have the Jeep towed to their location to look at the situation. Morgan Towing picked the jeep up on February 4 Wednesday. They replaced the serpentine belt and the alternator. They called us to let us know the Jeep was done. Picked up the Jeep today, February 5 Thursday. I Drove it literally down the street and I can smell strong odor of smoke along with the battery light came back on. I turned back around and brought it back to Morgan Towing. I called my auto insurance and waiting to hear back from them. I am going to call the Dodge Jeep dealership and see what they have to say if if there’s was any recall on the Jeep. Upon my research so far, I didn’t see no recall but again I’m gonna call the dealership.

My right side suspension has a hard time coming up and I can hear it then it eventually get to right level and my car is freaking out have every light come on and the windshield wipers but it doesn't always do it but I have videos. The codes I get say malfunctional control u1403 and other ones

The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.

Transfer case chain making terrible noise under the drivers side

Greetings, after 3 dealership attempts to correct the TIPM - NHTSA 19V813000 recall, my Jeep still stalled 4 times at highway speeds. I narrowly averted being rearended several times. I am terrified to drive the vehicle! I have yet another dealership appointment Friday, January 12, 2024 to correct the issue. Previous visits could not reproduce the problem or show any code errors. There were no warnings at all during these malfunctions, only the loss of braking and power steering did I realize the vehicle had stalled. Are there any remedies afforded to me at this point from Chrysler? The vehicle has only 124,000 miles. I've been extremely lucky that I haven't crashed or injured another party to date, but I fear it could happen at any time since this is my only transportation to and from work.

My vehicles Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) was rewired at a dealership as part of a manufacturer recall. Ever since this has been "rewired" I have had problems with the car shutting off while driving, and as a result, a loss of power steering and power brakes. I notified the dealership, Rentschler Chrysler of Slatington, PA, and they state that everything looks ok with the wiring and that a new TIPM was not part of the recall. This issue has been occurring with my Jeep (2011 Grand Cherokee Laredo) since 2013, two years after I purchased the car brand new. I want to know why Chrysler was not ordered to replace the TIPM with a new part? This has been happening to my car frequently and I have known other people with Jeep, Ram, and Durango problems with stalling while driving.

The contact's nephew veered to the left, but the other driver's vehicle swiped the rear passenger door and rear quarter panel. The vehicle jerked and flipped three times before landing on its roof in a residential yard. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's nephew was unharmed, but the contact's son and a third passenger were injured. The contact's son was transported by ambulance to the hospital with a fractured neck, but the right vertebral artery was unable to be detected. The third passenger was airlifted to the hospital with a fractured sternum and internal bleeding after a plastic piece from the front passenger seat dislodged and struck the third passenger's chest. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. My paint on the roof of my Jeep Grand Cherokee started bubbling and visible rust started appearing. After about a month my windshield cracked all the way across starting from where the rust made the paint bubble, this is the only part of the vehicle with any rust. I had USAA send Safelite to come repair my windshield and what I thought was minor rust damage. To my horror the damage from the bad paint/seal was extensive and the windshield can’t be replaced until the body of the Jeep is fixed. The windshield needing replaced is the original from the factory no part of my Jeep has ever been replaced, the only reason it needs to be fixed is because of the faulty paint/seal. I now have no windshield or drivable car. I have reached out and there are quite a few Jeep owners that experienced this same issue in the same exact location. It is now being held on by tape so there isn’t just a huge hole in the car. The day it cracked the vehicle had not left my driveway, but now my car is not in a state to drive anywhere. Also in outside temperatures exceeding 80 the seat belt warning light and air bag light come on, sometimes it stays sometimes it goes away. However when the airbag light is on it prevents them from deploying in case of an incident which could cause more serious injury or death. I have three open recalls as well, I call Roberson Jeep of Salem in March of 2021, I have not heard anything about the parts being ready, I called in June 2021 about an update and they have not started my claim.

The local dealer and two other dealers were contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. When I went out to my car the morning of [XXX], 2024, I noticed that the passenger headrest was disconnected from the back and had been deployed without reason overnight. There was no accident or contact with the car it just did it on it's own. Luckily no one was in the car so there was no injury caused. I was advised by the local Jerry Ulm Jeep dealership in Tampa that their was an extended warranty for this issue that expired in 2021. I did not receive any correspondence so this was the first time hearing of this issue. From looking online it looks like it is a very widespread safety issue. I contacted Jeep directly to request approval for reimbursement before getting the car repaired but was denied. As mentioned, this problem occurred out of nowhere and is clearly due to faulty manufacturing and could have caused serious injury if someone was in the passengers seat. I would like for Jeep to be held accountable for this and to be reimbursed for the associated cost to get this fixed. THEIR SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR SAID THEY WEREN'T GOING TO PAY TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL FIRE DAMAGE BECAUSE IT WASN'T RELATED TO THE RECALL AND WASN'T A MANUFACTURER ISSUE. BASICALLY, THEY IMPLIED THAT I CAUGHT MY OWN VEHICLE ON FIRE & RISKED MY OWN LIFE & THE LIFE OF MY GRANDCHILDREN, WHICH IS CRAZY. UPON OPENING THE JEEP DOOR, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY FILLED WITH SMOKE. WITH THE DOORS OPENED, THE SMOKE FINALLY CLEARED, AND, IN HORROR, I SAW THAT THE ROOF ON THE INSIDE HAD BEEN COMPLETELY BURNED AND PAINT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE ROOF HAD BUBBLED FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE A FIRE. UNDER HEAVY BRAKING AT ANY SPEED THE SEAT BELTS DO NOT LOCK TO PREVENT PERSONAL FORWARD MOTION. I FEAR THIS WILL CAUSE SERIOUS PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO MYSELF, THE DRIVER, AND PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE.

Fuel Cap recovery error light comes on and when taken to the dealership and diagnosed they replaced the fuel cap twice in 2 years. Still presenting the same problem. Engine Rocker arm and camshaft failure on 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine. Stability control problem when driving on rough highway roads at highway speeds makes the vehicle over correct in a left or right direction out of lane almost causing accidents. New shocks & struts, and check of the stability control systems has not corrected the problem
