2024 Jeep Wrangler 4XE

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has identified 68 Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) reports for model years (MY) 2021 through 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles alleging a loss of motive power. Recall 22V-865 was issued by the manufacturer to address an engine shutdown condition in certain MY 2021-2023 Wrangler 4xe vehicles. The complaints noted here contain both post recall remedy failures and failures in vehicles not included within the scope of 22V-865. An analysis comparing complaints received before the issuance of recall 22V-865 and complaints outside the scope of the recall has been conducted. The results show the current complaint rate is higher in the out of scope vehicles than it was for vehicles that were later covered by the recall. ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to assess the severity of the alleged defect in vehicles not included in recall 22V-865.ODI will also assess the scope and remedy effectiveness of the recall. The contact received notifications for NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V710000 (Electrical System), 25V741000 (Electrical System), 25V766000 (Engine), and 26V363000 (Steering). The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road, and the vehicle restarted after a while; however, the failure recurred while driving approximately 20 to 30 minutes later. Additionally, the infotainment screen was intermittently inoperable. The contact associated the failures with the recalls. The manufacturer was contacted and scheduled an appointment for the recall repairs with the dealer for the first week of August; however, during the appointment, the dealer rescheduled for August 10th due to the duration of the repairs. During the second visit to the dealer, the appointment was rescheduled again for the same reason. The contact was informed that she would receive a call once there was availability for the recall repair; however, the contact had not received a call. While opening the hood, the contact became aware that the insulation on the wire connected to the fuse box had melted. Additionally, the lid on the fuse box was melted.
