The defect: Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling various 1995-2018 motorhomes. A list of the affected vehicles available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V809-2309.pdf. These motorhomes are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. The risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
The remedy: Newmar will notify owners, and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on February 7, 2018. The defect: Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain model year 2008-2014 King Aire, 2009-2014 Essex, 2011-2015 Mountain Aire, Ventana, and Dutch Star, 2012-2014 Ventana LE, 2012-2015 Canyon Star, and 2015 London Aire motorhomes. The affected vehicles are equipped with refrigerator door latches that may inadvertently lock without the operator's knowledge.
The risk: If an individual climbed into the refrigerator and the door inadvertently latched, the person would not be able to open the door, increasing their risk of injury.
The remedy: Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will install a new replacement door latch that will not automatically latch, free of charge. The recall began on January 24, 2016. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.

The defect: CERTAIN DIESEL BUS MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH DRIVER SEATS BUILT BY VILLA INTERNATIONAL FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 207, "SEATING SYSTEMS." THE LOWER SLIDE RAILS OF THE AIR SUSPENSION CAN FAIL.
The risk: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, SEPARATION OF THE SEAT FROM THE SEAT PEDESTAL MAY LEAD TO PERSONAL INJURY.
The remedy: NEWMAR IS WORKING WITH VILLA TO INSTALL TWO REINFORCEMENT TETHERS BETWEEN THE FRONT OF THE SEAT PEDESTAL AND THE TOP OF THE AIR SUSPENSION FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 4, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NEWMAR AT 574-773-7791.

If the coach's HWH leveling system has intermittent issues when operating, check for corrosion or loose mounting bolts. Torque the mounting bolts (if needed) to 30 ft. pounds. A ground cable may also be installed to improve the overall grounding of the HWH pump assembly.

Mailing second notice on not corrected customer letters on NHTSA Recall: Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes. Issue: Certain motorhomes may have a defective refrigerator travel latch that may activate without the user?s knowledge when the doors are closed. If the latch locks the door shut, the refrigerator cannot be opened from the inside. This could potentially cause entrapment/injury to an individual. This only applies to French door style refrigerators with a specific travel latch. Attached is a list of specific coaches affected.

ON CERTAIN NEWMAR MOTORHOMES, THE REFRIGERATOR HEATED WATER LINE CIRCUIT BREAKER MAY HAVE THE WRONG SIZE AMPERAGE RATING AND THE 12 VOLT THERMOSTAT AND 12 VOLT HEATED WATER LINE COULD ALSO BE WIRED INCORRECTLY, CAUSING IT TO HAVE THE INCORRECT WIRING OR NO POWER.
