1991 Plymouth Grand Voyager Engine Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the engine system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Engine reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

MY 1991 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER HAS HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE EXHAUST SYSTEM, THE TRANSMISSION, PUT IN A NEW FUEL PUMP, A NEW RADIATOR, NOW IT FAILED AN EMISSIONS TEST AND I WAS SMELLING FUEL WHEN I WAS DRIVING ONLY TO FIND OUT MY FUEL RAIL IS LEAKING OR SHOULD I SAY SQUIRTING AS ONTO THE ENGINE, WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN A FIRE HAD I HAD BEEN SMART ENOUGH TO CHECK IT OUT. NOW THE SHOP WHERE I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED SINCE IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE SAYS YOU CAN ONLY GET THE PART FROM A DEALER WHICH COSTS 319.00 AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR. *NM

THE POST BROKE ON THE REAR CYLINDER HEAD. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT WHEN THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED THE EXACT SAME PART AT THE SAME LOCATION ON THE OTHER HEAD WAS CRACKED AND WOULD HAVE FAILED SHORTLY. ALTHOUGH IN . *AK
