On March 13, 2026, just 8 days after purchasing a new 2026 Thor Rize motor coach built on a RAM ProMaster 1500 chassis, the driver-side rear wheel completely detached from the vehicle while traveling approximately 60 mph on Interstate 15 in California. I observed sparks in my rearview mirror and immediately pulled over due to fear of fire, especially given the presence of a propane system. This was a sudden and dangerous failure with no warning. The vehicle was towed and I was later informed that a critical component in the wheel/rotor assembly had failed. The vehicle was undrivable and required transfer to a RAM dealership with no clear repair timeline. Due to the severity of the safety issue and inability to safely continue travel, I was forced to trade in the vehicle at a significant financial loss and purchase a replacement vehicle. A complete wheel separation on a new vehicle at highway speed presents a serious safety hazard and could have resulted in severe injury or death.
