The defect: K2 MOTOR IS RECALLING 1,921 AFTERMARKET HEADLAMPS OF VARIOUS MODELS SOLD FOR USE ON THE ABOVE LISTED VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMPS ARE MISSING THE AMBER SIDE REFLEX REFLECTOR WHICH FAILS TO CONFORM WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT."
The risk: WITHOUT THE AMBER SIDE REFLEX REFLECTORS, THE LIGHTING VISIBILITY MAY BE AFFECTED, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The remedy: K2 MOTOR WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND OFFER A FULL REFUND. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMEBER 17, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT K2 MOTOR AT 1-909-839-2992.

The defect: CERTAIN PRO-A MOTORS CORNER LAMPS, TURN SIGNALS, AND HEADLIGHTS SOLD AS REPLACEMENT LAMPS FOR USE ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. SOME COMBINATION LAMPS THAT ARE NOT EQUIPPED WITH AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.
The risk: WITHOUT THE AMBER REFLECTORS, THE VEHICLE WILL BE POORLY ILLUMINATED, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

The defect: ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS REPEATEDLY TURNED UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS WHERE HIGH STEERING EFFORT AND POWER ASSIST ARE REQUIRED, FOR INSTANCE, WHEN FULLY TURNING THE WHEEL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, A FATIGUE CRACK MAY DEVELOP IN THE STEERING RELAY ROD.
The risk: IF THE VEHICLE IS CONTINUED TO BE OPERATED IN THIS CONDITION, THE RELAY ROD MAY FRACTURE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STEERING RELAY ROD. THE RECALL BEGAN OCTOBER 5, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1991 TOYOTA PICKUP. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AT THE STEERING ROD ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE CONTACTS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V389000 (STEERING: LINKAGES: ROD: RELAY: CONNECTING) AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 143,876.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1991 TOYOTA PICKUP. THREE MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE CONTACT NOTICED EXTREME RUSTING ON THE CHASSIS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT IT WAS SO RUSTED THAT THERE IS STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. THE OIL AND FUEL LINES WERE RUSTED AND FELL OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY PARKED AND UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS TYPE OF FAILURE. THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD SEND OUT A REPRESENTATIVE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT NEVER DID. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1991 TOYOTA PICKUP. THE VEHICLE HAS UNIROYAL MOHAVE (NA) TIRES, SIZE P205/55/R15 (NA). THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TREAD BEGAN SEPARATING FROM ALL FOUR TIRES. ON TWO OCCASIONS, THE TIRE COMPLETELY BLEW OUT. DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND DAMAGED THE VEHICLE. DURING THE SECOND INCIDENT, THE CONTACT FELT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS DRIVING EXTREMELY ROUGH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY ROTATED THE TIRES. THEY ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE TREAD HAD ABNORMAL LESIONS. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE TIRES AND CONCLUDED THAT THEY WERE MANUFACTURED DEFECTIVELY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT STILL HAS POSSESSION OF THE TIRES. THE VIN AND MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
