Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2024 Honda Prologue, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Both left and right CV axles make loud clicking, grinding noise when turning. I reported this issue to Honda at around 6,500 miles. At first I was told we are waiting for a solution. Now the dealership's service manager says that there is no safety issue and that Honda has no intention of fixing the problem. The car currently has less than 16,000 miles and the clicking just keeps getting louder. It doesn't feel safe and at the very least it's annoying and unacceptable.

WHEN I USED ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, MY CAR TENDS TO LEAN SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. IT VEERS OVER A BIT AND THEN JERKS TO THE LEFT. ALL IN ALL, I CAN'T USE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE FREEWAY WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION. IT IS GENUINELY DANGEROUS IF VEHICLES ARE DRIVING ALONGSIDE OR BEHIND ME. OTHER THING, WHEN I USED ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FOR ALMOST ONE HOUR, THEN IT SUDDENLY BECOMES INACTIVE. IF I HAVE BEEN FOLLOW ANOTHER CAR, then what should happen when it suddenly becomes inactive??? I was very lucky at that time because there was no car in front of me. After 5,000 miles, my car began to make a slight noise on the right side when I slowed down in the city. Maybe it happened in the front drive axle assemblies or the front right low arm control.

I own a 2024 Honda Prologue (VIN: [XXX]). Since approximately XXX, the vehicle has experienced recurring failures involving critical driver-assistance and safety systems. The problems include: • "Forward Collision System Unavailable" warnings • "Adaptive Cruise Control Temporarily Unavailable" warnings • Automatic braking while reversing when no obstacle is present • Repeated loss of confidence in the operation of safety-related driver assistance systems   The vehicle has been presented to authorized Honda service facilities approximately four times for diagnosis and repair. The vehicle has spent approximately 20 to 22 days out of service. Despite multiple repair attempts, the problems continue. The vehicle has never been involved in a collision. A prior insurance claim involved hail damage only and was repaired. I do not believe the hail damage is related to the recurring failures of the driver-assistance systems. Because these systems are intended to help avoid collisions and improve vehicle safety, I am concerned that their repeated failure may create a safety risk. The unexpected braking while reversing is particularly concerning because it occurs even when no obstacle is present. I have opened Honda Case Number 162-31526 with American Honda Motor Company and have requested assistance, including consideration of a repurchase, replacement, or other resolution. I am submitting this complaint so that the issue can be documented and reviewed as a potential safety-related defect. I went to charge my car Sunday morning, and throughout the day it kept showing on the dashboard that the charge door was open. I stopped several times to check, and the charge door was actually closed, which was really strange. Later, I went into a store for less than 10 minutes. I locked my car before going inside, but when I came back out, all the windows were down. It honestly scared me because I have no idea how that could have happened. I shared my experience with a coworker who has the same car, and he told me the exact same thing happened to him. It’s so strange and concerning. This is the first time it has happened to me, but now I’m nervous about leaving anything inside the car, wondering if the windows could randomly open again.

Please see details of NHTSA Campaign #25V433000. This is a known issue associated with a platform technology shared by GM and Honda. I purchased the vehicle as CPO on 31 July and almost immediately the parking brake warning light and the 'Service Transmission Now, Unable to Shift Soon' error code appeared on the dash. I returned the car to the dealer on 1 Aug for repairs and was told this is a 'known issue' with Honda Prologues, but there is no recall in effect for Honda. How is this possible? I am concerned with the degree of risk I could have potentially encountered due to a sudden brake failure or being stranded.

NHTSA ID 11754986 · filed Aug 5, 2026

While driving my 2024 Honda Prologue Elite at anywhere from 10-30 MPH, the One-Pedal Driving system suddenly and without warning faults out and disabled mid-drive. The regenerative braking abruptly cut out, causing a sudden loss of expected deceleration, creating a 'lurch forward' feeling. A dashboard warning light illuminated instructing me to press the brake pedal immediately. This has happened multiple times, causing a severe safety hazard during normal traffic conditions. The vehicle shares an identical GM Ultium electronic brake modulator architecture with other previously recalled vehicles. The car is unsafe and should be considered for recall repairs. I have read that this is happening to others and Honda really needs to address this issue.

My vehicle constantly receives an error message while driving stating, "SERVICE HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM" and "REDUCED ACCELERATION DRIVE WITH CARE." Error symbols appear on the dashboard that show an orange turtle, a red battery with a big exclamation point through it and and a red car outline with a big exclamation point going through the middle of it. When this happens, the vehicle acceleration is significantly reduced and the regenerative braking or "one-pedal" feature automatically becomes disabled. If you're relying on that system to brake, it will not do so when you need it to and you have to manually press the brake to slow and stop the vehicle. This error clears after a few days of driving but never fails to return. The dealer said they found nothing wrong when I brought it in (when the error wasn't being displayed, of course) but it went back today with the error displayed so they could witness it for themselves. Separately, the vehicle makes an incredibly loud knocking noise when accelerating with the wheel turned. It appears this is coming from the CV joints.

On Feb 7th, notice a Knocking/Clicking noise coming from right wheel when making slight right turn, but not often. Called my dealership and immediately they said they were aware of issue and said it is common in Prologues. But due to the prologue being a GM make and not Honda, they were told they needed to wait till GM comes up with a solution, as well as parts being backordered. A few weeks later, knocking noise got louder and happening more often. Concerned I asked them to take a look at vehicle. I brought it in on March 4th, tech took it for a drive and yes confirmed issue and told me we just needed to wait or callback in a few months. As of today, April 11th, noise is extremely loud & always happens when making right turns, and is continuous through the whole duration of turn. Now we are slowly hearing it on left turns and when reversing.

High voltage system error has flagged and been fixed multiple times starting in early January of 2026. Car randomly warns and breaks in the middle of the road because it sensed something that wasn’t there. Luckily no wrecks have occurred. Both CV joints have a loud clicking noise that the Honda dealerships knows about but has no fix for. I currently have an appointment for the dealership to look at my brake and high voltage system again.

I am unable to manually turn on my lights, the vehicle stays on ‘automatic lights’. Headlight function remains normal within the automated functions, however, pursuing to Florida Statute 316.217 manual headlight control is necessary to turn on my headlights. The windshield wipers are an operation which does not take place unless the windshield wipers traveling at such speed, automated light control turns them on automatically. The cause of this is directly related to the software in the entertainment system that manually locks out the driver from addressing and turning on their own headlights.

My 2024 Honda Prologue sat in my driveway, during winter temps, for a few days, and when I walked around the car I noticed that the right rear tail light was completely cracked/busted. Upon closer evaluation, I also noticed that the left side started showing signs of cracking as well. The cracking started from the inside of the light, as you can't feel the crack on the outside surface, on the left side. There was no other damage anywhere else on the vehicle or in the surrounding area. The tail lights appeared to have busted/cracked on their own in the cold temperatures.

The vehicle experienced multiple serious issues affecting safety and reliability. The 12V battery failed, leaving the vehicle unable to start. In addition, there is a persistent abnormal ratcheting or grinding noise when turning, indicating a possible drivetrain or steering-related defect. An interior component near the rearview mirror also detached while driving, creating a distraction and safety concern. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for repair on February 21, 2026 and has remained out of service for over 30 days with no confirmed repair completion date. There have been communication issues with the dealership, including lack of documentation and inconsistent updates regarding the status of the vehicle. Due to the extended downtime, unresolved defects, and safety concerns, the vehicle is unreliable and unusable for its intended purpose.

Wiper control is not fully under human control. At any speed less than very fast, the wipers are on automatic. The automatic will not start unless the car is going over 35 miles an hour, which means that I either need to waste windshield wiper fluid to clear my windshield below that speed or turn the speed up to max to do so. Once the car has gone over that speed, though, the automatic system will control the wipers, sometimes getting stuck on max noatter how much rain there is and not being able to be slowed unless they are turned completely off and left that way for several minutes. This has been demonstrated for and confirmed by the dealership. Then they shrugged and said that Honda has not issued a fix for the problem. This is a safety issue because it obstructs the vision of the driver and takes concentration away from the road.

I have had two safety issues with this vehicle where there were system failures that did not record DTC codes. And an additional failure that does not record codes and cannot be duplicated. After leasing the vehicle for seventeen months, and during repair for an unrelated non-safety issue, it was discovered that the steering wheel airbag had a loose connection. No warning appeared at any time on the instrument panels. As well the one pedal function would switch into regular drive mode, as in a gas powered vehicle, randomly. After multiple tries and incidents the dealer service department has been unable to duplicate. Then on March 6 of this year I bought in the vehicle yet again for this one pedal failure, and was notified there was an existing recall. This software update was performed. On March 17, just 11 days after the update, while backing into my garage with the garage door going up the windshield wiper was clipped by the door, destroying both the wiper and shattering the back window. I have backed into my garage thousands of times and never had an issue. Why this happened on this date I do not know. What I do know is that the vehicle gave no warnings and did not break for the object. At the time my dogs were clipped into their seat belt harnesses in the center well. By a miracle no glass shattered beyond the back storage area and I was able to safely remove them. I checked after and all of the collision warning systems were listed as active, including automatic braking for rear collisions. I had the dealership run scans twice and all scans showed no DTC codes and all systems active. I can only assume that all prior updates have failed, and there is a substantial defect to the vehicles ability to communicate. I have a copy of the scan performed. The second scan was run on April 9 because the dealership failed to provide a printed copy of the first. I have that second scan. My vehicle fails to communicate or activate essential information, a safety hazard.
