Owner-reported complaints naming the steering system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Steering reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Both left and right CV axles make loud clicking, grinding noise when turning. I reported this issue to Honda at around 6,500 miles. At first I was told we are waiting for a solution. Now the dealership's service manager says that there is no safety issue and that Honda has no intention of fixing the problem. The car currently has less than 16,000 miles and the clicking just keeps getting louder. It doesn't feel safe and at the very least it's annoying and unacceptable.

WHEN I USED ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, MY CAR TENDS TO LEAN SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. IT VEERS OVER A BIT AND THEN JERKS TO THE LEFT. ALL IN ALL, I CAN'T USE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE FREEWAY WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION. IT IS GENUINELY DANGEROUS IF VEHICLES ARE DRIVING ALONGSIDE OR BEHIND ME. OTHER THING, WHEN I USED ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FOR ALMOST ONE HOUR, THEN IT SUDDENLY BECOMES INACTIVE. IF I HAVE BEEN FOLLOW ANOTHER CAR, then what should happen when it suddenly becomes inactive??? I was very lucky at that time because there was no car in front of me. After 5,000 miles, my car began to make a slight noise on the right side when I slowed down in the city. Maybe it happened in the front drive axle assemblies or the front right low arm control.

Clicking sound coming from the front axle when turning and at acceleration when first driving off. I contacted my Honda dealership to schedule an appointment so they can inspect the vehicle. They said that at this time they do not have a fix and Honda is aware of the problem, but no recall has been issued.

I am reporting a safety-related concern involving the right front axle on my 2024 Honda Prologue. When making right-hand turns at low speeds, the vehicle produces a loud clicking noise coming from the right front axle/CV joint area. The noise is repeatable and occurs consistently during turning maneuvers. I reported this issue to my authorized Honda dealership. On 05/21/2026, I dropped the vehicle off for inspection and repair. During the service visit, the technician acknowledged the concern and its happening with other Honda Prologue vehicles. No definitive safety repair or corrective action was provided at that time. I am reporting this concern because it involves a potential drivetrain/axle issue that may impact vehicle reliability and safe operation during turning conditions.

Vehicle: 2024 Honda Prologue Touring AWD The vehicle has an ongoing clicking/noise issue coming from the driver-side front CV joint/axle area, especially during turns, acceleration, and low-speed maneuvering. The clicking noise appears to be progressively worsening and raises concerns about premature CV joint failure and potential drivetrain safety issues. The issue has persisted despite service visits and replacement attempts. Additionally, the vehicle intermittently displays a “Charge Port Door Open” warning message even when the charge port door is fully closed and secured. This false warning can prevent charging functions from operating normally and creates concerns about electrical system reliability and sensor malfunction. Both issues occur intermittently but repeatedly, affecting confidence in the vehicle’s safety and reliability. The ongoing driver-side CV joint clicking noise has caused concerns about potential drivetrain failure while operating the vehicle. Due to the worsening nature of the issue and repeated occurrence, I no longer feel fully safe or confident driving the vehicle, especially during turns and normal road operation. The false charge port warning may also interfere with the vehicle’s charging capability and normal operation.

The lane keep assist has never worked. It doesn't not keep you in the lane, it just chimes when you drift out of it. The bigger issue is the axles. I only owned the car for 1 month when the axles started loudly clicking with every turn. Honda is claiming this is just a cosmetic defect and it does not affect safety, but I don't believe that for a second. Clicking axles are NOT normal, and could only indicate signs of deterioration. Not only that, but myself and anyone else with this issue can feel that the drivability is affected. Turns and propulsion are slower as time goes on and the clicking gets louder. Honda knowingly continues to sell these cars for up to $60,000 and no longer offers a remedy for the faulty axles. They now plan to discontinue the vehicle and offer no further support for it, which is completely unnaceptable. This safety defect must be remedied as soon as possible. We should not wait until someone is dead.

When turning, accelerating and/or decelerating I hear a clicking sound coming from the rear of my car. My initial determination is the infamous cv joint/axle clicking sound. I have a service scheduled with dealer in a couple of days (5/6/26) to review. I did not receive any error or warning messages. The problem started yesterday (5/3/26).

I took delivery of my new 2024 Honda Prologue in 2024. After driving approximately 2,000 miles, I noticed a clicking noise coming from the front axle area, especially during low-speed turns and parking maneuvers. I first brought the vehicle to AutoNation Honda in Costa Mesa, California, the dealership where I purchased it. They inspected the vehicle and reported finding no issue, so no repairs were performed. As the noise continued and worsened over the following months, I took the vehicle to Jerry Seiner Honda in San Juan Capistrano, California. Their service department diagnosed the clicking noise as originating from both front axles. Both front axles were replaced on October 28, 2025, which initially resolved the problem. However, the identical clicking noise has now returned. As of April 18, 2026, the condition is present again and requires further repair. THIS CONDITION IS NOT SAFE. The vehicle is still under lease with 19 payments remaining. This appears to be a recurring issue with the 2024 Honda Prologue. See NHTSA complaint ID XXX (and related complaints) for numerous similar reports of front axle / CV joint clicking noises on this model. On Feb 7th, notice a Knocking/Clicking noise coming from right wheel when making slight right turn, but not often. Called my dealership and immediately they said they were aware of issue and said it is common in Prologues. But due to the prologue being a GM make and not Honda, they were told they needed to wait till GM comes up with a solution, as well as parts being backordered. A few weeks later, knocking noise got louder and happening more often. Concerned I asked them to take a look at vehicle. I brought it in on March 4th, tech took it for a drive and yes confirmed issue and told me we just needed to wait or callback in a few months. As of today, April 11th, noise is extremely loud & always happens when making right turns, and is continuous through the whole duration of turn. Now we are slowly hearing it on left turns and when reversing.

There is a loud clicking sound coming from the front axle(s) while steering around corners. It began within 30 days of taking possession of the new vehicle in mid-April 2025 and has continued to this day, April 6, 2026 with 11k mileage on the car. Furthermore it has become progressively worse, whereby early on the steering had to be near the fully clocked left or right position, now it only has to be about 30% in either direction for the clicking to be audibly and vibrationally noticeable. Two Honda dealerships near Orlando FL have been informed of the issue as well as a case opened (and closed by Honda without my consent) Honda Auto Customer Service. No action has been taken to correct it. I am consistently advised it is a "known issue" and that the vehicle is "safe to drive". Long story short, Honda is well aware of the issue, but has completely failed to apprise its customer base of any pending solution. They are content to advise us to continue to operate the Prologue and suffer the issue. I've given Honda a year to correct it. I am now concerned to operate the vehicle for fear one or more of the front half shafts is going to come apart at speed.

I am the owner of a 2024 Honda Prologue Touring Sport Utility FWD 2WD. I am reporting a defect involving a clicking/ratcheting noise originating from the front CV joint/drive axle when turning the steering wheel, most notably during left turns and when the steering wheel auto-centers after a turn. The noise is consistent and reproducible. This is not an isolated issue — Honda itself acknowledged the problem in a December 19, 2025 Tech Line Summary Article applicable to all 2024–2026 Prologue vehicles, confirming a "clicking or ratcheting type noise when turning" caused by the front drive axles. Hundreds of other Prologue owners have filed identical complaints with the NHTSA. I have not yet had the vehicle repaired as replacement parts have been reported to be on extended backorder at dealerships nationwide, and multiple owners have reported the clicking returning after axle replacement, suggesting the replacement parts share the same defect. I am concerned this defect poses a safety risk, as the clicking has grown more pronounced over time and the integrity of the CV joint/axle directly affects vehicle control during turning. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and compel Honda to issue a formal recall and supply properly redesigned replacement parts.

When Turning to right and left there is rattling sounds mostly on slow turn. I brought to Honda dealership drive test it with their Tech. They said might be drive shaft or CV joints. But they did not fixed because they did see loose or bad since the car is new parts may not be available. yet they told I can still drive it . They said will report it and let the Honda motor company what to do on this issue they will me when they get response from the manufacturer. Today the rattling noise gradually increase. My concern is might worse or all a sudden will brake. Thank you for your time in reading my report. Best, 2024 Honda prologue Owner.
