Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

I heard a loud bang from overhead when driving on the road in August 2026. There was no visible impact from road debris or any other object. Upon stopping and inspecting the vehicle, I found multiple stress cracks throughout the panoramic glass roof panel (part number 81620-N9000). The cracks radiate across the panel with no identifiable impact point, chip, or starburst. SAFETY RISK: The panel is cracked overhead of the front occupants. The bang was loud and startling while the vehicle was in motion, which is a distraction risk. If the panel fails completely, glass could fall onto occupants or exit the vehicle and strike following traffic. DEALER CONFIRMATION: Yes. Two Hyundai dealerships have inspected the panel and confirmed the cracking. Both declined warranty coverage and directed me to file a comprehensive insurance claim. Neither provided a documented impact point or a written technical explanation for the denial. MANUFACTURER INSPECTION: No inspection by Hyundai Motor America. I opened a case with Hyundai Consumer Affairs (case #43163493 and requested a Field Service Engineer inspection. As of 9/24/2026, I have received no response. No police or insurance inspection has occurred. WARNING SIGNS: UNKNOWN. I observed no prior cracks, chips, noises, or warning messages before the bang. The vehicle is a 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited with approximately 19000 miles

On 9/13/26, while driving, all the instrument warning lights came on and stayed on after the car was shut off and back on a few times. Running diagnostics on the car showed everything was working ok. On 9/14/26, The warning lights were off in the morning. On 9/15 while driving, making a left turn, the instrument panel went completely blank, with the exception of the radio part of the screen. My turn signal, speed, fuel, blind spot indicator, etc. nothing showed up. Video is available of the incident.

After denying that this problem existed, Hyundai issued a software update to "fix" the AEB issue. I had the software update done at Riverhead Hyundai on 7/20/26. On 7/27 and 7/28, the AEB system activated and stopped my vehicle. On 8/4, the system began to activate, but ended the activation before a complete stop. There was no issue with traffic from any direction on all 3 occasions. I contacted Hyundai, but they again stated that their technicians could not duplicate the issue. This was what they told me before the recall was announced or performed, and no Hyundai technician had possession of the vehicle to do a test after these most recent incidents.

When I arrived home later- saw the hole in my roof.Next morning I took my car to the delearship and after assessment they agreed the sunroof exploded. They told me the car was not safe to drive and gave me a loaner. I have tried to upload images but they are too large for your portal.

All four factory Nexen tires on my brand new 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid have shown rapid and uneven wear between 5,000 and 11,000 miles. The vehicle feels unstable, with alignment-like behavior. A Nexen preferred dealer suggested a possible tire defect. Hyundai Consumer Affairs and the dealership have not coordinated a proper warranty inspection, and I was asked to pay $189.99 for diagnosis even though the issue was documented early under warranty. I am concerned this may be a safety-related defect affecting other vehicles.(my 1st request to Hyundai since march 2026 all emails and conversations documented)

The parking cameras on this vehicle have been intermittently failing for almost a year, most frequently when reversing the vehicle, but also when parking in a garage (forward camera). This puts me and any cars and pedestrians around me at risk every time it fails when I am attempting to reverse out of a parking space. The car's rear window is not designed for maximum visibility of surroundings. I have taken the car to the dealer 3 times to repair this defect, including one visit in which they replaced the camera. The symptom of the defect is that a green screen appears where the camera image should be and says it's not working, when I put the car into reverse or pull into a parking space.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Some Tucson (NX4, NX4A, NX4M), Tucson Hybrid (NX4 HEV), and Tucson Plug-In Hybrid (NX4 PHEV) vehicles may exhibit a 12-volt battery drain due to the passive entry feature of the Digital Key 2 premium causing repeated wakeup of the vehicle. This bulletin provides instructions to perform software updates for the Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) and Body Domain Control (BDC) modules.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Some Palisade (LX2), Tucson (NX4), and Tucson Hybrid (NX4 HEV) vehicles may experience battery drain due to continuous operation of the cooling fan after vehicle ignition has been turned off, potentially resulting in a no-start condition. The continuous cooling fan operation is caused by a stuck relay in the engine room PCB block. This bulletin provides instructions to replace the engine room PCB block to ensure the proper operation of the cooling fan.

AIR BAGS

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified the presence of substandard and dangerous driver’s-side airbag inflators manufactured by Jilin Province Detiannuo Automobile Safety System Co., Ltd. (DTN). These inflators were not supplied, approved, or authorized by the vehicle manufacturers and have primarily been found in vehicles that previously experienced a crash and underwent airbag replacement using non-genuine parts. These dangerous inflators have ruptured during deployment, posing a serious risk of injury or death due to metal fragments entering the vehicle cabin. To date, Hyundai is aware of three people who have died while driving a Hyundai vehicle with one of these substandard replacement airbag inflators that deployed in what likely would have been a survivable crash. NHTSA has issued a public advisory urging vehicle owners and service professionals to have vehicles inspected if there is reason to believe that a non-genuine replacement airbag may have been installed. Vehicles with salvage or rebuilt titles, prior airbag deployments, or unknown repair histories may present a higher risk. NHTSA strongly cautions against self-inspection by vehicle owners and recommends inspection by trained technicians.

DTN DCS

AIR BAGS

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued an urgent safety advisory regarding dangerous, counterfeit driver‑side airbag inflators manufactured by Jilin Province Detiannuo Automobile Safety System Co., Ltd. (DTN), that have been identified in U.S. vehicles following prior crashes, theft, or non‑certified airbag replacements. These inflators are not approved for use, may rupture during deployment, and have caused serious injuries and fatalities. Please see attached announcement, provided by NHTSA, for more details.

Some vehicles may exhibit a loss of connectivity or interruptions in the middle of using Bluelink functions. This may be due to an occasional disconnection on Verizon’s communication network. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to verify Bluelink Data Communication Unit (DCU) network connection and if needed, reset the DCU in Dealer Mode to resolve the connection.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
