My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee suffered a total intake manifold failure directly resulting from a secondary breakdown of Safety Recall W79 (NHTSA Campaign 20V-699). Physical teardown at an independent facility exposed a 70% engine runner restriction and seized glow plugs due to volatile exhaust sulfur, creating an active fire risk. On July 9, 2026, LaFontaine Fenton was presented with clear mechanical photos and a continuous 2023 dealer repair loop under Customer ID [XXX], but formally refused to open a corporate STAR Case or dispatch flatbed transport to remedy this active safety defect. My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly developed a no-start condition after previously operating normally. The vehicle would crank but would not start. The battery and fuel injectors were checked and replaced as needed, but the problem persisted. Based on the symptoms and known issues affecting 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees, the internal fuel pump relay/TIPM is suspected. This defect has been the subject of previous safety recalls because it can cause engine stalling or a no-start condition. Although my vehicle is not currently included in an open recall, it is experiencing the same type of failure. A failure of the fuel pump relay can leave a vehicle stranded or cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, creating a serious safety hazard if it occurs while driving. I believe this issue should be investigated to determine whether additional vehicles should be covered by the recall.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit EcoDiesel (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced a catastrophic engine failure at approximately 116,000 miles while driving. The vehicle suddenly displayed an oil pressure warning, and I immediately shut the engine down to avoid further damage and potential safety risks. At the time I shut the engine off, the engine was not making catastrophic knocking noises and was not leaking oil heavily. The vehicle was towed to Astorg Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Parkersburg, WV. Before inspection, I specifically instructed dealership personnel not to start the engine because I suspected a serious oil-related issue and wanted to avoid causing additional damage. Despite these instructions, the dealership started and ran the engine anyway. After the dealership started the vehicle, the engine condition reportedly worsened significantly, including severe engine noises and much heavier oil leakage. I was later informed the vehicle would require complete engine replacement, with estimated repair costs ranging from approximately $10,000 to $24,000. At the time of failure, the vehicle was also subject to the unresolved Z46 High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) recall, which had not yet been completed. I had previously been informed that recall parts were available and the repair would be scheduled. I am concerned that the unresolved recall and/or related fuel system issues may have contributed to this catastrophic engine failure. I am also concerned about the potential safety risk associated with sudden oil pressure loss and catastrophic engine damage while operating the vehicle. I am submitting this complaint so the failure and unresolved recall involvement are documented and reviewed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Component/System Failure: The internal fuel pump relay within the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM-7) failed. This component is not available for inspection as it is an internal board-mounted relay, but the dealership-installed External Bypass Relay (Part #CBWPR091AA) and the failed fuel pumps are documented on the attached service invoice. Safety Risk: The failure caused an unpredictable engine stall at highway speeds in heavy traffic. This resulted in a complete loss of motive power while moving, creating an immediate risk of a rear-end collision and leaving the vehicle stranded in a live lane of traffic. Confirmation: The technician documented a terminal 'static pressure drop' to 35 PSI (Spec is 58 PSI). Based on this confirmed low-pressure state, the dealer required the replacement of both the Main Fuel Pump and the Siphon/Auxiliary Transfer Pump, alongside the installation of the External Bypass Relay Kit (Part #CBWPR091AA) to restore safe operation." Inspection: The vehicle was inspected and repaired by the authorized manufacturer representative (Larson Chrysler Jeep). I have also opened a formal case with Stellantis Corporate (Case # 96059987). Warning Symptoms: There were no warning lamps, MIL messages, or starting issues prior to the initial stall. The 'Long Crank' and failure-to-start symptoms occurred immediately after the highway-speed stalls. The vehicle would not restart until it had sat for a period of time, indicating a thermal failure (heat soak) of the internal fuel pump relay. This resulted in the vehicle being stranded in live traffic multiple times while waiting for the component to cool and allow a restart "Note: The attached repair invoice from Larson Jeep contains a clerical typo in the VIN (listing a 'D' instead of a 'B'). The dealership has been contacted to provide a corrected copy, but the technical diagnostics and repair were Selling Dealer: Titus Will Used Cars Lakewood, WA Servicing / Repair Dealer: Larson Jeep Puyallup, WA

I took my car to the dealer for the recalls. They are basically only putting a band aid on the issue. They are telling me they did both recalls but it didn't fix the issue. Klaben in Kent Ohio. They basically did just a flash on it but that didn't fix the issue (LOSS OF CRANKSHAFT POSITION). Everything I read said the reluctor wheel needs replaced and they are telling me the vehicle is too old and won't fix. This is all part of the recall. If you have any questions please call me. Complaint to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Subject: Vehicle Sold by CarMax with Open Recall Campaign Z46 in Violation of Stop-Sale Order Dear NHTSA, I am reporting CarMax for selling a vehicle affected by Recall Campaign Z46 (NHTSA ID: 22V406) in violation of the stop-sale requirement. In November 2023, I purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel from CarMax while it was still subject to this recall and the part needed for repair was on national backorder. CarMax failed to disclose the open recall or the serious safety implications. As a result, I experienced significant engine and DEF system problems and incurred over $3,800 in related expenses. The vehicle was eventually repossessed, and I had to borrow nearly $2,500 to recover it. In addition to these costs, I experienced credit score damage and emotional stress from the situation. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate this dealer for violating the federal stop-sale order and endangering consumers by releasing a recalled vehicle without remedy or disclosure. When I accelerate the fuel pedal to the floor the more it cuts out it did that before the recall on the high pressure fuel pump and it's doing it after supposedly it was replaced. The dealership replaced injectors, fuel rails, fuel filters, all new tubing kit, and most important high pressure fuel pump, upon inspection the dealership only replaced High fuel pressure pump and did not perform the work this is the second time I informed you about this issue. I am so highly concerned not only from my safety but safety of others if they've done this to me the dealership will do it to anyone. I hired an attorney to investigate until these illegal activities and I will be going in front of the Attorney General on this matter. I have a highly concerned issue with this vehicle the admissions is terrible the soot that goes into that engine it's ruining it at 138,000 miles my biggest issue is the exhaust gets in the vehicle with all the windows shut and I get sick on that DEF fluid that burns out the exhaust somehow someway it's getting in the vehicle and it's getting me sick I've already brought this to the attention of the manufacturer and he said the motors are junk and they should be recalled immediately this is my second complaint and no results

The Jeep has had major issues with the fuel system. The first reported issue is during the fill the filler would click like it was full when it was in the beginning stages of the fill. It ended up soaking me with gasoline and shutting down a gas station for spill. I filed a complaint with the NHTSA and the Vermont Attorney General because the dealerships were not fixing the problem. The fuel tank was finally repaired when the Attorney General got involved. 2024 the Jeep is again having issues with the fuel system. When the tank is filled to capacity it creates gasoline fumes so strong that it infiltrates the cabin and can be detected from the parking lot. It is really scary to keep having issues with the fuel system. I am shocked after reading on the internet so many Jeep owners with fuel system issues that the vehicles are not on recall. I want to report this because it is a safety issue.

Fuel pump failed. Electric control module/system failed. I have been having these problems since 2021. When it first started my car stalled out, completely died, and started rolling (even though I was pressing the brakes) - I had to pull my E brake and luckily stopped an inch away from hitting the car in front of me coming to a stop because the light turned red. My entire car shut down. I had to get a tow. I took it in to a shop and they had no idea really what happened or what it was. They told me a bunch of stuff was bad (thousands and thousands of dollars worth of stuff) and I ended up only getting whatever was absolutely necessary which was the fuel pump and battery. $1300 later it was driving at least. Ever since then my gas gauge has NEVER been accurate and just goes up and down randomly. I have to track my gas by resetting the miles of my “total trip” when I fill up. My dashboard constantly went on and off and I never knew what was accurate and what wasn’t. About 6 months ago my dashboard went completely black and hasn’t came on since. My car is now barley taking over 4 gallons of gas at a time before the auto stop on the pump cuts off. If I try refilling anyways gas overflows. This makes absolutely no sense. I can’t see how fast im going, hear my blinkers go on and off, see how much gas I have, how many miles are on my car, any check engine lights, and now I can’t drive over 75 miles without having to “fill up” my measly 4 gallons again before the pump shuts off. I was never notified of any recalls but there is absolutely no way my car is excluded from them. The electronic control module is fried, I can’t even get gas, and a brand new battery and fuel pump was clearly just a miniature band aid on this disaster chain of problems. I’ve only had this Jeep for like 5 years too and what it’s worth is not even worth a fourth of the cost it would be to fix all of this.

The problem with my vehicle is with emissions system which was covered under the Ecodiesel Extended Warranty lawsuit the EPA filed against the manufacturer Stellantis. My jeep has been down at Crystler Dodge Jeep Ram dealerships for 2 years. The extended warranty states they would repair problems, but they have not. I was told today that they will only give me 8741 for my car but they want to keep it. I’ve had to go to the hospital twice from the first dealership that had my car for a whole year giving me carbon monoxide poisoning. I’ve been paying full coverage insurance for 2 years. This manufacturer has placed and is placing me in a hardship. They said they would/ coukd repair my car and stayed in writing they would have certified techs working on my car, they had the parts manager working on my car and almost killed me. Now, their leadership is trying to bully me into selling them my car for this low ball amount. Why didn’t they offer to buyback before putting me through 2 years of hell. Is it Leah’s to breach a binding legal contract they agreed to honor. I am aware they are to suffer penalties for not honoring the warranty, and for not keeping databases updated by VIN. I was told my parts weren’t covered for months, I had to constantly show them the warranty said the parts were covered they trying to charge me for. I want my vehicle fixed under the extended warranty. I want compensation for this excessive time, and for them not honoring the consent decree they told the EPA and NHTSA they would honor. Please help me get my vehicle fixed under my extended warranty. My car is covered til 199,189 miles or May 13, 2024.
