2027 Kia Telluride

Upon Acceleration there was a screeching noise every time. Yesterday the car would not speed up and Rpms were so high. Engine began over heating and got a message to park car and leave running, car started smoking and almost got hit trying to pull out because the car wouldn't speed up with the pedal to the floor. Also Brakes grind hard stopping and make a cracking noise. Barely could make it to the dealership. They told me there was 27 new kia's in for the same problem yet no one recalled cars or warned people.

I noticed while driving my gas model that when I pulled off from a complete stop it takes time to accelerate although the RPMS are raising. It feels like its struggling to accelerate. It is intermittent but its very noticeable. I have to press the gas pedal very slowly for it to eventually pick up. This is a little concerning regarding safety. I really would like the transmission checked as well as any turbocharged/throttle/sensors to ensure no limp mode issues

The radiator of our 2027 Kia Telluride was punctured by some unidentified road debris. The service rep at the Kia dealership where the vehicle was towed noted that this debris barely missed a $3000+ sensor device. While investigating the likelihood of this incident occurring on such a new vehicle, I found that Kia Telluride owners have been reporting similar incidents since at lease 2021. The problem is an extra wide grill that allows for such road debris to readily pass through the grill and strike whatever is behind the grill. There are third party solutions for this problem - installing screens behind the grill. I feel Kia needs to proactively address this problem through a recall, redesigning their grill, and offering to install the third party solution. We were left with a vehicle overheated on the side of an interstate after dark in a part of northern [XXX] where we were unsure of our safety, the reputation of the tow company, the reputation of the Kia dealership to which the vehicle was towed, and timeliness of repairing such an incident. We ended up having to pay insurance deductibles and rental car fees in addition to making a trip back to northern [XXX] to retrieve the repaired vehicle. The negligence on Kia's behalf of this well-known issue can easily result in a disabled vehicle for others, costing the vehicle owner's insurance claims, costly repairs and alternate travel expenses, or personal safety and injury concerns. I had a claim with Kia Customer Service (Case #XXX) but the case was inexplicably closed. When all occupants in the vehicle have their safety belts on the safety belt warning alarm still sounds. I noticed it in August 2026 that it still ring . It had not been reported until today . It happens often.

When backing up the vehicle failed to alert, backed up into another vehicle that was reversing at the same time. Driver on both vehicles failed to see each other and ended up rear ending each other. The system did not function as no alert ever came up on the vehicle. Kia claims to have all the safety features to prevent this and yet it happened while backing out of the house.

"While driving, my KIA Telluride 2027 hybrid sx prestige, the vehicle intermittently detects an occupant in an empty second-row passenger captain's chair and activates the rear seat-belt warning and audible chime. There is no person or object on the seat. I have video documenting the instrument cluster showing the affected seat during the event. The vehicle was inspected by the Kia dealership; no diagnostic trouble code was found and the dealership was unable to reproduce the problem. The problem remains unresolved."

2027 Kia Telluride gasoline model. On multiple occasions, while accelerating from a complete stop, the engine RPM increases but the vehicle does not accelerate normally. The condition is intermittent. During the delay, the transmission appears to engage or shift at least twice before the vehicle begins accelerating normally. This creates an unpredictable delay when attempting to accelerate from a stopped position and is a safety concern when entering or crossing traffic. No warning light has appeared. Vehicle is scheduled for dealer inspection on September 1, 2026.

I am reporting multiple intermittent safety and electrical issues with my 2027 Kia Telluride. The rear passenger seat on the driver’s side repeatedly detects or indicates that a person is occupying the seat when the seat is completely empty with no objects on it. When this occurs, the rear seat belt warning activates and the alarm/chime repeatedly sounds as though an unbelted passenger is present. The issue is unpredictable. Sometimes it begins shortly after starting the vehicle and driving away. Other times, the vehicle operates normally and the warning suddenly activates while I am already driving. I have also experienced an Auto Hold system error/malfunction as well as other intermittent electrical/dashboard errors affecting vehicle functions and warning indicators. I am a member of a Facebook group for owners of this vehicle, and numerous owners have reported experiencing similar rear-seat detection/seat belt warning problems. I have also seen multiple reports from owners describing other electrical issues with their vehicles. This raises concern that these problems may not be isolated to my vehicle. I contacted my Kia dealership regarding these concerns and was advised that there is currently nothing they can do because there is no recall for the vehicle addressing these issues. I am concerned that an electrical, software, sensor, wiring, or control-module defect may be affecting multiple systems. The false occupant warning is especially concerning because I cannot determine whether the vehicle’s occupant and safety systems will function properly when an actual passenger is present. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate these issues to determine whether they represent a broader safety defect affecting the 2027 Kia Telluride.

This update is designed to improve the following: - Improves the controller type determination logic to remedy the sunroof operation anomaly. - The connection and controller logic between Digital Key and Ultra Wideband-supported smartphone devices has been improved to reduce 12V battery consumption. - Improves the Side Body Control Module (SBCM) to reduce noise that may occur during the folding and unfolding of the outside mirrors.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: ELECTRIC OIL PUMP REPLACEMENT (CA2604) - This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the Electric Oil Pump (EOP) on certain 2027MY Telluride (LQ2a) vehicles produced from December 05, 2025 through March 25, 2026, which, due to insufficient hydraulic oil pressure in the automatic transaxle, may enter into a reduced power mode with the transaxle in 5th gear.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SERVICE ACTION: SBCM SOFTWARE LOGIC IMPROVEMENT (SA658) - This bulletin provides information to upgrade the Side Body Zone Control Module - Driver ‘SBCM_DRV’ and Side Body Zone Control Module - Assist ‘SBCM_AST’ systems software on certain 2027MY Telluride (LQ2a) and 2027MY Telluride Hybrid (LQ2a HEV) vehicles produced from March 13, 2025 through August 27, 2025. Some of the affected vehicles may exhibit a popping noise from one or both outside sideview mirror(s) after the auto fold/unfold function is enabled and the vehicle is locked. This condition is caused by the SBCM sending an additional fold command after the mirrors have already completed the folding operation. This condition does not affect the ability of the mirror to fold or unfold.

VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN: OWNER NOTIFICATION (SC377) - This document is the owner notification advising that Kia is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign on certain 2027 MY Telluride vehicles to adjust the brake booster pushrod.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: ULTRA-WIDE BAND SENSOR SOFTWARE UPDATE (SA652) - This bulletin provides information to upgrade the Ultra-Wideband Bluetooth Low Energy Master (“UWB_BLE_M”) system software on certain Digital Key 2-equipped 2027MY Telluride (LQ2a) vehicles produced from December 03, 2025, through June 04, 2026, and certain 2027MY Telluride Hybrid (LQ2a HEV) vehicles produced from December 04, 2025, through June 04, 2026. The improved software reduces power consumption from the vehicle’s auxiliary battery and enhances its performance by preventing the vehicle's auto-flush door handles from remaining extended for prolonged periods when a smartphone with Digital Key 2 remains nearby the parked vehicle. To extend the auto-flush door handles in this circumstance, the driver should press the lock/unlock indentation on either front door handle.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SUNROOF LOGIC IMPROVEMENT (SA653) - This bulletin provides information to upgrade the Roof Control Module ‘RCM’ system software on certain 2027MY Telluride (LQ2a) vehicles produced from December 04, 2025 through May 28, 2026, and 2027MY Telluride Hybrid (LQ2a HEV) vehicles produced from December 05, 2025 through May 28, 2026. The affected vehicles may exhibit an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp ‘MIL’ accompanied by DTC U17000 which can cause the sunroof assembly to become inoperative.
