1997 Plymouth Voyager Tires & wheels Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the tire or wheel system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Tires & wheels reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I WAS HEADING NORTH ON SCENIC HIGHWAY, NORTH OF CREIGHTON IN PENSACOLA FL DOING 50 IN A 45 MPH ZONE. SUDDENLY I HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD A BLOWOUT. I MANAGED TO STOP, CHANGE THE TIRE AND RETURN IT TO SEARS. THE WRITEUP MAN SAID THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GOODYEAR WEATHERHANDLER LS TIRE PROBABLY GOT AN AIR BUBBLE BETWEEN THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE SIDEWALL AND THAT CAUSED THE TIRE TO BLOW OUTWARD, FROM ITS SIDEWALL. I GOT CREDIT FOR THE 3 REMAINING TIRES AND BOUGHT 4 MICHELINS. *TR

SHIMMY AT LOW SPEED. DEALER DIGNOSED TREAD / BELT SEPARATION. MICHELIN DEALER REPLACED TIRES WITH SYMMETRY TIRES EXPLAINING OLD SERIES NO LONGER AVAILABLE, BUT SYMMETRY WAS SAME TIRE WITH SAME TREAD PATTERN. DEALER ADMITTED THAT THEY'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE XW4 TIRES, BUT REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION. I WAS SOLD NEW TIRES AT REDUCED COST, BUT PAPERWORK DOESN'T LIST TREAD SEPARATION AS THE REASON. CO-WORKER HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH MICHELIN TIRES ON PICKUP TRUCK. IS MICHELIN HAVING FIRESTONE PROBLEMS?
