On two separate occasions while driving with adaptive cruise control engaged the vehicle braked heavily. In one instance the vehicle rapidly braked from 70 to 40 mph before the accelerator could be depressed to resume driver control. Latest occurrence was on 9/8/2026.
Rough field delivery or air intake system, or software issue, heavy shuddering while at incline/decline, parked and reoccurring everyday. Also occurred while driving through windy hills (felt very unsafe to drive at this time). Yes this issue has been reproduced at the dealership and they are stating this is a “normal” problem. There was no lamps or warning prior to this happening.
Was parking into a handicap space and all of a sudden the car accelerated by itself
In the last three weeks, I have received a warning that Service Safety Restraint System: Your airbags or seat belt may not work properly during a crash. Schedule service soon.
The contact owns a 2026 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that upon pulling into a parking space and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated, crashed into a pole, and then stopped. An unknown warning light was illuminated after the crash. The contact stated that the driver’s side air bag deployed. The contact sustained soreness and bruises from the seat belt. The contact was transported to the hospital by ambulance and was placed under observation. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and was then towed to a Collision Center by the insurance company. The vehicle was not yet evaluated. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
The contact owns a 2026 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the hood independently unlatched and opened. The contact stated that the driver's side and passenger's side fenders were damaged. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 1,700.
The contact owns a 2026 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, the messages “Service Stabili-track” and “Steering Assist Reduced” were displayed. The vehicle was difficult to control while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the driver's side wheel speed sensor was not properly secured in the hub. The vehicle was test-driven for six miles. The dealer properly secured the wheel speed sensor inside the hub. The bolt was replaced and repaired. The manufacturer was notified, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 32.
Service Safety Restraint System warning light keeps coming on. I have taken it to Classic Chevrolet in Oklahoma City 6 times now for the same issue. I have opened a case with GM(XXX). I have been told that GM engineers have been on the phone with the dealership to get this repaired yet it is back in the shop at the dealership again. It has been explained to me that this warning light indicates that the air bags may not work if an accident occurs or the airbags may just deploy as I am driving down the road. That is the safety issue I am reporting. If even the GM engineers cannot fix this problem then I would say that it is a serious problem putting many people at risk. I wanted this in writing. This safety issue needs to be looked into and a recall needs to occur as I am sure I am not the only GM customer driving an unsafe 2026 Chevrolet Trax.
