What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
The truck has 55,000 miles on it. The truck shifted very harshly when slowing down creating a traction hazard. The harsh shifting cannot be mitigated by adjusting how it is driven. After a few days a wrench symbol appeared on the dash screen while driving on the interstate, I immediately drove the truck to the Ford dealership after the wrench symbol appeared. Code P07F7 was recovered. I was told that the torque converter is bad and the CDF hub is failing. I was told that the transmission will have to be replaced or rebuilt. The Ford dealerships own transmission specialist showed me how the faulty design is the cause for the break and showed me the new design Ford uses for the replacement parts.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to shift into gear. The transmission was a hard shifting and vibrating. While driving 35-45 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the transmission was flushed and fluids were replaced. After 3 days, the failure reoccurred. The Ford customer service was contacted. The dealer informed the contact that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000.
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.

Can phasers failed. Ford will not accept any responsibility for a known dangerous issue.Ford refuses to help even though they knew about this issue. They did not issue a recall, instead offering a Customer Satisfaction Program so they could dodge responsibility for future repairs. This is a dangerous defect as it can cause an engine to seize up on the highway. I’m stuck with a repair bill in the thousands of dollars and Ford will not even assist with the cost.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
I am writing to formally escalate my ongoing complaint regarding my Ford truck and the repeated problems I have experienced with it over the years. At this point, this is no longer simply a matter of dissatisfaction with a dealership repair. I am asking Ford Motor Company at the corporate level to take responsibility for reviewing the complete history of this vehicle and the repeated unsuccessful attempts to correct the problems I have experienced. Most recently, my truck was brought to **Salem NH Ford on August 25, 2026, because of the ongoing powertrain malfunction and sudden loss-of-power problem**. This was the **fifth time** I have brought the truck in for this same ongoing powertrain problem. The dealership kept my truck for **ten full days**, from August 25 through September 4, 2026. During that time, Ford provided me with a loaner vehicle. I was eventually contacted by the dealership and told that my truck was ready to be picked up. I was also told that they believed they had fixed the powertrain problem. Unfortunately, that was not the case. ### THE POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION RETURNED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY After picking up my truck on **September 4, 2026**, I began driving it again. Then, on **September 7, 2026 — only three days after picking it up from Ford — the powertrain malfunction happened again**. This was extremely upsetting and frustrating. Ford had my truck for ten days. This was already the **fifth service visit for the same ongoing powertrain problem
I reported transmission issue to my dealer years ago. It started when I would start the truck in the morning and put it in reverse. It would do nothing than al of a sudden lunge in reverse. Than it would clear up and not do it for several months. I pretty much got the blow off from the dealer. Cold Oil, linkage sticking bs. Of course, now it’s out of warranty. The transmission shifts hard and even slips out of gear. It stalled tonight at a stop light because it banged into gear. I have less than a hundred thousand miles on this truck. It’s not even safe to drive down the road. You never know when it’s going to shift out of gear . Or lunge forward when it shifts into the next gear.
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.

While driving my vehicle (2019 Ford F150), it suddenly came to a complete stop. The engine shut off and the steering wheel locked up. While in the middle of a roadway, I had to quickly throw my vehicle into park, turn it off and back on. At that point, it was running again and I was able to safely get it to a dealership where it was inspected for an issues. There were no warnings, alerts or messages on my dashboard. The dealership confirmed what had happened. It was due to the electronic steering system failing. They fixed it and so far there has been no issues. This is not the first time I have heard of this happening and after researching, it appears it is more common than not. I believe, because of the risk of this vehicle unexpectedly and suddenly stopping on any roadway, a recall should occur. I could not imagine what would happen if one of my loved ones had been driving and a serious crash occurred.
Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the windshield wipers failed to activate, and no warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the control stalk, wiper motor, and the motor linkage were inoperable and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.
Certain Ford vehicles (e.g., my 2019 Ford F150 Platinum) have a front camera with a pressurized washer. When the windshield wiper fluid spray is operated, the camera washer sprays washer fluid from the reservoir onto the camera as well as the windshield. However, the camera spray system has a check-valve that leaks, draining the windshield washer fluid reservoir. When a driver needs to clean the windshield using the spray, the reservoir is empty, resulting in an uncleanable windshield whilst driving. This can be very dangerous when, for example, in snowy conditions, a big-rig splashes dirt laden snow on a windshield. The wipers activate, smearing the windshield with dirt, sand, salt etc., and snow that can block the entire windshield. One can think of many similar scenarios where a driver's vision/road visibility can be compromised in this manner. Ford is aware of this issue and has published a technical service bulletin, 20-2267, that identifies which Ford models are affected and how the repair is undertaken. However, as the grill and several other front-end body components must be removed to affect the repair it is very expensive; most owners will not have this repair done. Note that there is no indication that the check valve has leaked and drained the reservoir, leaving the driver to find out at a critical time there is no way to clean the windshield while driving.
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle abruptly lost power, decelerated and stalled. The contact was able to maneuver the vehicle off the road and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was later towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the driveshaft had sheared off inside the shaft and the vehicle was undrivable and informed the contact that the drive shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V986000 (POWER TRAIN, STRUCTURE). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 212,000.
I purchased this truck from Don’s Ford, Rt12,Utica,NY in February 2025 didn’t even leave the dealership every light in the dash came on turned around they had my truck for 5 months while I made 6 months of payments, there has been numerous problems since, I took the extended warranty out and was still being charged, I had to change dealer ships because they refused to fix my truck, now there is a recall and there saying I purchased the truck in Canada which I have a bill of sale stating I purchased the vehicle in Utica,NY, the vehicle was in and accident and I was told it had a clear car fax the airbag and the horn don’t work, I have tried to work with Dons Ford and getting no where I shouldn’t have to drive my vehicle to Canada for recalls when I purchased it in NYS I still have numerous problems with this vehicle and getting no where I have all the service orders and need help
Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.

Center piece of steering wheel is cracked
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
While driving at a low speed, when pressing the accelerator, the auto initially didn't respond, but then accelerated sharply after a delay (when the accelerator wasn't engaged). The transmission seemed to abrubtly shift up by 2 or 3 gears without warning requiring me to immediately depress the brake to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me.
Truck is stalling at low speeds or idle when in drive or reverse causing me to get stranded in turns or at stop lights. No check engine lights have come on and the dealership said to wait but it’s happening constantly. Occasionally the auto start stop will say it’s failed but the stalling occurs when it’s enabled and disabled
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
The brake master cylinder on my 2019 F150 had a seal leak which caused all brake fluid loss while towing with my family. Luckily we were able to stop safely, not only for us but others nearby. I know this is a recall that affects vehicles in other years but mine was not included and I feel like it should be because we had total brake failure. This is already documented by Ford recall number 25S37 (which aligns with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's number 25V-236). I feel like Ford needs to expand the recall to other years as it seems the defective part is more widespread to the ones they recalled. I had a Ford dealer replace the master cylinder and brake booster which is Ford's recommendation based on the rear seal leak of the master cylinder. A low brake fluid warning was all that appeared and by the time I was going to safely stop to check fluid level, there was no braking pressure.
The front passenger brake caliper came completely off when I was driving.the only warning I had was when my brake pedal went straight to the floor when depressed.i was forced to pull into a gas station and keep driving in circles till the vehicle slowed enough to drive into a curb to stop so I could put the vehicle in park.i then had my vehicle towed home and replaced the part myself as I dont feel comfortable taking my vehicle to the dealership to be worked on because of past experiences. The other issue is when I accelerate my pcm goes into what I would call it as limp mode.the vehicle has no power to accelerate and it happens randomly.it will stay like that until the vehicle is turned off and key removed for atleast 15 minutes.when started back up it is back to normal but if the accelerator pedal is push to quickly it will go back Into limp mode if I put the vehicle in sport mode it happens almost immediately. Also the transmission has random down and upshifts and shifts very harshly at times.i drive over a mountain pass atleast 5 times a month and have been stuck on the side of the road multiple times waiting for my vehicle to go back to normal to make it over the pass.
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim

Reports naming the automatic or manual transmission, including shifting behaviour, shudder, slipping and transmission control modules.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the transmission hesitated to shift into gear. Additionally, the vehicle shuddered and stalled while driving. The engine revved and experienced rapid acceleration. The transmission shifted into reverse(R) one time, and the contact reversed into a parking space and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart and shift into gear afterwards. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but no diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved. The contact was informed that there may be water in the fuel line and to allow the vehicle to run out of fuel to drain the water. The failure persisted, and the vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist, who determined that the valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,500.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission experienced hard downshifts, causing the vehicle to jerk and abruptly decelerate. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving in different gears, and while driving at highway speeds or slower speeds. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who reprogrammed the transmission control module, but the failure persisted. The mechanic later informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 95,000.
Exterior lighting

The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 59,025.
Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
While driving on a straight road, flat surface the ball joint failed/broke causing the lower control arm to drop which in turn caused a collapse of the driver side front suspension. The front quarter panel sustained significant damage due to the collapse. It was all I could do to try and keep the truck under reasonable control. The control bar broke off, traveled under the truck causing some damage, to the under carriage, punctured the rear right passenger tire before denting the back right panel behind the wheel where it exited. Fortunately this was in a rural area, early morning so no other vehicles were involved. Should we keep the pieces so they can be tested/inspected
I noticed the rear axel or back suspension on this truck is making a very load uncomfortable sound, like when two pieces of metal are rubbing up against each other... Its under tension and making a bind on the back passenger side. I got the truck with my mechanic few and body/auto repair guy and observed a 1/4 inch UBolt that holds the lead spring I believe hitting up against another bolt on the rear suspension and I cant access or open the drain plug too check the differential. Also there are a lot of loose wires under the dashboard, that already made me trip once, and Im a disabled veteran. Can you please help me get that taken care of?
Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
vehicle shifted from 1st to 3rd gear and as I accelerated the engine RPMs drastically increased. The transmission jumped from 3rd to 8th gear and then immediately dropped to 1st gear while I was at 40-45 mph. Due to the speed the back tires locked and the vehicle jumped from 1st to 3rd gear and I stopped. Thankfully I did not have a vehicle behind me, or they would have him me. Dealership determine and confirmed hard/harsh shifting between 3rd, 5th, 6th while skipping 4th and 5th. No codes or warnings found upon download by the technician. Technician could not replicate it shifting from high gears to 1st and locking the tires. Recommended and completed adaptive learn procedure, but vehicle is still hard shifting 3rd and 4th gear. Very concerned the vehicle could downshift from higher gears and lock the tires again which will cause an accident.
Tire/wheel was losing air, upon investigation I discovered a cracked rim, which is my second in 8 months. Upon looking online, I see that ford is attributing this issue to aggressive stiff-wall offroad tires. I have the fx4 offload package with the factory wheels and BF GOODRICH KO2 all-terrain tires, which are the most common all-terrain tire in the US. I am using the same size tires as came from the factory. The change in tire is the only modification I have done from factory. I have followed the factory rotation guide. I have not done any offroading other than maintained gravel roads with this pickup, and I am not an aggressive driver. I do not believe that that is the cause here.
Tires & wheels
Reports naming tires, wheels, hubs, or the tire-pressure monitoring system.
From owner reports, verbatim
No accident or damage occurred. I was able to drive the vehicle back to the dealership that installed the fluid mixture without needing the automatic 4-wheel drive feature to prevent damage. The vehicle is at the dealership to address the potentially incorrect fluid that were used and to install the Ford recommended fluid. The safety concern is that the Ford dealership followed the guidance of a well known company (BG products) and installed a mixture of fluids that have never been tested in a complex transfer case that has the Torque-on-demand, automatic 4A feature that controls the vehicle's traction during wet/icy conditions. This type of transfer case is not installed in all F-150 trucks, only the upper models like the Lariat or Platinum models. The dealership installed BG 792 plus they mixed in BG 328 additive per a universal guideline published by BG products. This mixture doubles the viscosity of the fluid recommended by Ford, which is Mercon LV (Low Viscosity). The guidance was intended for less complex or manual type transfer cases not the Borg Warner 44-67. The installed mix of BG 792 +328 could cause a slower engagement and inconsistent operation of the Traction-On-Demand system during wet or icy conditions. The Borg Warner 44-67 uses speed sensing and injects low viscosity fluid through portsinto a "wet clutch" pack, and the hydraulic pressure is modulated by a specifically programmed PID loop. The hydraulic system has not been tested with the BG mixtures, that doubles the viscosity of the fluid. The BG 328 additive is specifically designed for friction type clutching plates, and could cause damage to the "wet clutch" pack found in the Borg Warner 44-67. I have notified the dealership and BG products of the misinterpretation of the BG guidance but they have claimed that the fluid mix they used "should be ok". They can not, and/or will not provide the chemistry calculation or testing protocols for the mix used, especially with BG 328 added into BG 792.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150 equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: Defender LTX, Tire Size: 275/65/R18, DOT Number: [XXX] . The contact stated that after a visual inspection, he observed that the front passenger’s side tire rib was cracked and separating from the tire body, exposing the steel belts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure but determined the failure to be an abnormal safety hazard. The tire was replaced, but the contact had since observed the failure occurring in the remaining tires. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
