I am reporting a severe safety hazard regarding the braking and electronic parking brake system on my 2023 Range Rover Sport. Whenever the vehicle is exposed to significant moisture—such as immediately following a standard car wash or after sitting parked outside in humid or rainy conditions for 1 to 2 days—the brakes severely lock and freeze in place overnight.When attempting to drive the vehicle the following morning, the brakes refuse to release. In order to get the vehicle to move in Reverse or Drive, I am forced to apply aggressive, heavy accelerator pressure to break the vehicle free. When the brakes finally snap open, it produces a violent clunking sound, and the vehicle suffers a sudden, uncontrollable surge of forward or backward momentum.This sudden vehicle surge creates an immediate crash and pedestrian safety hazard in tight driveways, garages, and parking lots. Forcing a heavy luxury SUV to experience high-engine RPMs just to disengage the parking brake is completely unacceptable and unsafe. The manufacturer dismisses this as "surface rust," but the level of mechanical binding and subsequent vehicle surge constitutes a dangerous design or component defect that requires a safety investigation.

Dear Land Rover Customer Care Team, I am writing to formally log a complaint regarding my 2023 Range Rover Sport (VIN: [XXX] and the unsatisfactory service experience I received at the Land Rover Alexandria dealership. My vehicle currently has only 16,000 miles on the odometer. Recently, the "Brake Pad Worn" warning light appeared on the dashboard. Upon bringing the vehicle to Land Rover Alexandria for inspection, the dealership advised that both the brake pads and brake rotors require a complete replacement, refusing to cover the service under warranty or offer any Goodwill assistance. Requiring a complete brake pad and rotor replacement at just 16,000 miles on a premium, luxury SUV is entirely unacceptable and well below reasonable manufacturing and safety expectations. A failure/wear of both pads and rotors at this extremely low mileage strongly points to one of the following underlying issues: A manufacturing/part defect in the brake friction material or rotors. An electronic or mechanical system issue (such as sticking calipers, torque vectoring drag, or electronic parking brake binding) causing excessive, premature dragging and wear. When I requested that this issue be evaluated under warranty or submitted for Manufacturer Goodwill support, Land Rover Alexandria flatly refused and insisted that I pay out-of-pocket for a full pad and rotor replacement. As a Land Rover owner, I expect the vehicle’s components to meet premium quality and safety standards. Replacing rotors and pads at 16,000 miles is not standard "wear and tear"—it indicates a defect or system malfunction. I am requesting the following resolutions: A formal review of this case by JLR Corporate. Full or partial coverage (Goodwill assistance / Warranty claim) for the replacement of the brake pads and rotors. A thorough technical inspection by JLR to confirm there is no underlying mechanical or electronic defect causing premature brake drag on this vehicle. VEHICLE: 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE, Original owner since February 2023. NATURE OF DEFECT: Persistent and unresolved coolant loss from the engine cooling system, with evidence suggesting leaked coolant is contacting hot engine components and creating a potential fire hazard. CHRONOLOGY: Beginning in February 2026, the vehicle began displaying recurring "low coolant" warnings on the instrument cluster. The vehicle has been presented to an authorized Jaguar Land Rover dealership three times for warranty diagnosis and repair of this complaint. On each of the three visits, the dealership replaced a single cooling system component (a hose or O-ring). After each repair, the low coolant warning returned within approximately two weeks. The most recent repair, completed on May 26 2026, involved replacement of an O-ring on a lower coolant hose that had been previously serviced under JLR safety recall N785. The vehicle was returned to me on Thursday, May 28 2026. On Tuesday afternoon, June 2 2026 (approximately five days after the most recent repair), I detected a distinct burning odor from the engine compartment while the vehicle was operating. On Wednesday morning, June 3 2026, I visually inspected the coolant expansion tank and confirmed the coolant level had again dropped below the minimum mark. SAFETY CONCERN: The combination of recurring coolant loss and a burning odor originating from the engine compartment is consistent with coolant contacting hot engine components — most likely the turbocharger, exhaust manifold, or associated heat shielding. This is the same failure mode that prompted JLR safety recall N785 (NHTSA Campaign 23V-221) on 2019-2022 Range Rover Sport PHEV vehicles, in which leaking coolant onto the turbocharger heat shield was identified by the manufacturer as creating an increased risk of fire. The Keyless Vehicle Module security system on my 2023 Range Rover Sport deactivated both of my smart keys simultaneously without any warning or alert. The vehicle locked itself while both keys were inside and completely disabled them both at the same time, leaving my vehicle totally inoperable. I had no way to start or operate my vehicle. There was no warning light, no alert on the dashboard before this happened, and no information provided at purchase that this could ever occur. The only message displayed on the dashboard after the fact was Refer to Handbook Smart Key Deactivated. I am a single father with dependents and this is my only vehicle. I was left completely stranded at my home with no transportation for multiple days. This is a known and documented design defect affecting all Jaguar Land Rover vehicles manufactured from 2022 onwards. The vehicle has been inspected by Land Rover Alexandria dealer located at [XXX] . The dealer confirmed the issue and quoted me $3,000 to replace the Keyless Vehicle Module hardware. After I filed a BBB complaint and contacted Land Rover corporate the price was reduced to $640. My vehicle is a 2023 model and is still under full factory warranty. Land Rover corporate has an open case on this matter under case number XXX No other vehicle manufacturer allows their own security system to completely strand the owner with no warning and no safeguard. 2023 Range Rover Sport (VIN: [XXX] ). Vehicle's own anti-theft security system simultaneously deactivated both smart keys after they were left inside the locked vehicle. This is a known design defect across all JLR vehicles from 2022 onwards. Vehicle is now completely inoperable. Dealer is quoting $3,000 for a new Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) and two new keys. Owner was never warned at purchase that this could occur. This leaves owners completely stranded with no fix available without paying thousands of dollars. The contact owns a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15-20 MPH with her daughter in the vehicle, the contact heard a chugging sound, and the vehicle stopped independently. The contact was able to pull over near a stop sign and stopped and exited the vehicle and became aware that the front passenger’s side wheel had detached from the vehicle. The contact stated that the suspension had detached from the vehicle. The suspension system warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was being diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and documented an incident report. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Dash message shown electrical system fault, vehicle shut down completely in less than 30 min. Upon a jumpstart, the vehicle would only run for less than a minute before complete shutdown. Dealership towed vehicle, and states problem with DC converter.

I was driving my vehicle when suddenly I got a "electrical fault has been detected Pull over Safely" error message. At that time the everything is still running and working. I pulled over safely and shut off the car. I restarted it and it said "low battery, start engine". It was really cold and I imagine as the car kept running, that will recharge the battery. I continued to drive (cautiously on local streets) and about 20 mins later, certain electrical features like lane assist and traction control was not available. A few minutes later, more and more systems were being turned off. Eventually, the car's engine died and there was no electric power to the car. I lost steering and brakes. Everything in the car was electronically controlled. The car rolled to a stop but I was not even able to use my hazard lights. Luckily, it was during the day and I was able to roll to a stop and call for help. This is a safety concern if my engine stopped and I was in the middle lane of a highway. I'm unable to steer, brake, or show signs that I'm in trouble to those behind me. The car was eventually towed to a Land Rover dealer and the service rep said I would need my 48V to 12V DC to DC converter replaced. She has at least 10 other vehicles with this issue. The way the car is designed, when the engine is running, it's powering a 48v battery. The 48v battery then converts the electricity to 12v for all the components of the car. In my case, when the engine was running, it was not able to recharge the 12v battery at all. In a vehicle where EVERYTHING is controlled electronically (even the door handles), there should be a failsafe so the 12v battery can be charged when the engine is running but the DC to DC converter doesn't work. This is a serious safety concern if this happened I needed to avoid hitting pedestrians. The horn won't work and I can't roll my window down to yell.
