The defect: Gulf States Toyota (GST) is recalling certain 2019 C-HR, 4Runner, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Prius, RAV4, Sequoia, Tacoma, Sienna, Tundra and Yaris vehicles. The text on the load capacity label may become illegible. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
The risk: If the driver cannot read the label, they may unknowingly overload the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: GST will notify owners, and dealers will provide corrected load carrying capacity modification labels, free of charge. The recall began May 24, 2019. Owners may contact GST customer service at 1-800-444-1074. GST's number for this recall is 19R1.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP

The defect: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2019 Camry Hybrid and Avalon Hybrid vehicles. The fuel filler pipe may not have been properly reconnected to the fuel tank during an inspection after vehicle assembly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 301, "Fuel System Integrity."
The risk: The improperly connected filler pipe may leak fuel, which, in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel filler pipe, replacing it if necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 19, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is K0I.

NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH and approaching a stop sign, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that she continuously depressed the brake pedal down to the floorboard, and the vehicle responded. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure recurred while driving. Several unknown messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would follow up with the dealer. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 52,690.

THE WINDSHIELD IS SEVERELY DISTORTED. DURING THE DAYTIME, WHILE MOVING, OR SEEING MOVING OBJECTS, IT IS UNUSUALLY HARD TO JUDGE SPEED AND DISTANCE DUE TO THE DISTORTIONS. AT NIGHTTIME, THE DISTORTIONS BEND, TWIST LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS MAKING DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS. MULTIPLE VISITS TO THE DEALER AND A VISIT FROM A TOYOTA FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE TO INSPECT THE WINDSHIELD HAVE BEEN MET WITH REFUSAL TO MAKE REPAIRS. THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE DOES ACKNOWLEDGE WINDSHIELD DEFECTS BUT SAYS "THEY ARE COMPARABLE TO LIKE VEHICLES." HE REFUSED TO EXAMINE OTHER NEW "LIKE" MODELS WITH ME BECAUSE HIS ASSERTION IS ERRONEOUS.

MY CAMRY HAS 6K MILES ON IT. ON FRIDAY, 6 DEC 2019 AT 1600, I PICKED UP MY CAMRY FROM YUBA CITY TOYOTA AFTER HAVING ITS FIRST VEHICLE SERVICE. WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 20 TOWARDS GRASS VALLEY, CA LESS THAN 20 MIN AFTER PICKING IT UP, I HEARD AN EXTREMELY LOUD EXPLOSION OVER MY HEAD. IT TRULY SOUNDED LIKE A GUN WENT OFF IN MY CAR. I DUCKED, LOOKED AROUND AND REALIZED IT WAS PROBABLY THE SUNROOF BECAUSE I COULD HEAR AIR BLOWING. I WAS ON A FOUR LANE SECTION OF HWY WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND A CAR A FEW HUNDRED YARDS BEHIND ME. THERE WERE NO TREES OVERHEAD AND IT WAS A CLEAR EVENING OUTSIDE WITH NO RAIN. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 55 DEGREES OUTSIDE ALSO. THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY ANY OBJECTS. FORTUNATELY, I HAD THE INSIDE PANEL CLOSED AND DID NOT HAVE ANY GLASS FLY INTO MY FACE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I FILED A CLAIM WITH TOYOTA AND THEY ARE WORKING THE ISSUE NOW, BUT IT SOUNDS AS IF THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY DUE TO IT CREATING A FUTURE PROBLEM WITH CLAIMS. I WAS DRIVING 60MPH ALSO.

I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT YESTERDAY MORNING. I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 20-25 MPH AND HIT A PARKED CAR ON THE PASSENGER FRONT. THE FRONT BUMPER AND FENDER ON PASSENGER SIDE WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED AND THE CAR WAS UNDRIVEABLE. WHAT IS CONCERNING IS THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY NOR DID THE SETBELT LOCK. I SUSTAINED INJURIES TO MY LEFT KNEE HITTING THE CONSOLE, MY LEFT SIDE OF FACE INCLUDING JAW HIT THE TOP OF STEERING WHEEL AND MY FOREHEAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND BROKE IT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR HAS A SAFETY ISSUES.

I WAS PARKING MY CAR IN MY GARAGE AND MOVED FROM THE BRAKE TO THE GAS TO MOVE UP A SMALL AMOUNT. I BARELY TOUCHED THE GAS AND THE CAR SURGED FORWARD HITTING A SHELVING UNIT IN MY GARAGE. IT WAS A VERY SCARY EVENT. THE CAR AND SHELVING UNIT WERE DAMAGED. THANKFULLY, NO INDIVIDUALS WERE INJURED.

Some 2018 – 2024 model year Toyota vehicles equipped with a Premium Audio with Dynamic Navigation System require a Special Service Tool (SST) USB flash drive to update the map, points of interest, and system software.

Some 2005 – 2026 Toyota vehicles that have undergone water intrusion may exhibit a condition in which a musty odor is present. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to remediate the odor and address this condition. The purpose of this Service Bulletin is to provide general guidelines and procedures for odor remediation. ENGINE

The specific condition covered by this program is for a small engine coolant leak that can occur from the flow shut-off valve that can allow coolant to drip on other parts of the vehicle. This can cause "Engine Maintenance Required" to be displayed on the instrument cluster or cause the A/C not to function normally. Although the flow shut-off valve is covered by Toyota’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty for 36 months or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first), we at Toyota care about the customers’ ownership experience. Toyota is providing coverage for repairs related to Flow Shut-off Valve Coolant Leak.
