The defect: Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling various 2003-2018 Crossroads, Dutchmen, and Keystone recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V755-5127.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. The risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
The remedy: Keystone will notify owners and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. The defect: KEYSTONE IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 COUGAR AND LAREDO TRAILERS AND FIFTH WHEEL VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES HAVE EXPERIENCED A LIMITED NUMBER OF FAILURES WITH ITS SPARE TIRE CARRIERS IN PARTICULAR, THE SPARE TIRE CARRIERS, WHEN COMBINED WITH A 16" SPARE TIRE AND WHEN INSTALLED ON THE BUMPER OF A SLIDE OUT BIKE/STORAGE RACK, MAY BREAK OR CRACK AFTER TIME CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE TO FALL OFF.
The risk: IF THE TIRE CARRIER FAILS CAUSING THE TIRE TO COME LOOSE, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.
The remedy: THE REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER WITH A NEW SPARE TIRE CARRIER FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ONMARCH 8, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KEYSTONE AT 1-866-425-4369.

The defect: KEYSTONE IS RECALLING 10 MY 2008 LAREDO FIFTH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILERS FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF PART 567, 'CERTIFICATION.' THE FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION LABEL AND TIRE AND LOADING INFORMATION LABEL DOES NOT CONTAIN THE CORRECT GROSS AXLE WEIGHT RATING (GAWR). THE LABEL INDICATES A CAPACITY OF 6,000 LBS, BUT INSTEAD SHOULD READ 5,080 LBS. ALSO THE TIRE SIZE AND MAXIMUM INFLATION PRESSURE IS LISTED AT 235/80/R16E AT 80 PSI AND IT SHOULD BE 225/75/R15D AT 65 PSI MAXIMUM INFLATION.
The risk: LOADING THE VEHICLE BEYOND THE ACTUAL GAWR COULD RESULT IN POOR VEHICLE HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH CORRECTED LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. IF AN OWNER DESIRES, THEY CAN HAVE THEIR DEALER REPLACE THE TAGS FOR THEM. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JANUARY 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KEYSTONE RV AT 1-866-425-4369.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 KEYSTONE LAREDO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRAILER FRONT FRAME KEY PIN ASSEMBLY HOOK SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE WITH BROKEN WELDS. THE MANUFACTURER REPAIRED THE FRONT ASSEMBLY BY PROVIDING ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO THE WELDING. THE REAR HANGERS FOR THE CENTER WHEEL ASSEMBLY SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE TIRES ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE STRUCTURE WAS NOT ALIGNED CORRECTLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPDATED 01/13/11*BF THE CONSUMER STATED KEYSTONE SENT HIM A NEW SPARE TIRE HOLDER, BUT IT IS THE SAME MODEL AND IT ALSO LOOSE. THE SPARE TIRE HOLDERS DO NOT HOLD THE SPARE TIRE TIGHTLY AND AS A RESULT THE TIRE WOBBLES CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR TO THE HOLDER AND INCREASED CHANCE OF FAILURE AND RELEASE OF THE SPARE TIRE WHILE TOWING A TRAILER. THE TIRE PRESSURE CHART ON THE SIDE OF 5TH WHEEL R/V STATES TIRE PRESSURE SHOULD READ 85 PSI WHILE MAXIMUM PRESSURE ON TIRES STATES 65 PSI. WE WERE TOLD TO FOLLOW TAG ON R/V WHEN WE PURCHASED NEW IN FEBURARY 08. WE HAVE REPORTED THIS TO DEALER OVER SIX WEEKS AGO AND NO REPAIR AT THIS TIME. *TR
