The defect: Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 1997-2017 LRV, and LR7 Aerial devices. The platform leveling yoke may fail, possibly causing an occupant to fall from the platform.
The risk: Failure of the platform leveling yoke can cause the occupant of the platform to fall out, increasing their risk of injury.
The remedy: Altec will notify owners, and will inspect the leveling system to verify the correct alignment, replacing any improperly aligned yokes, free of charge. The recall began on April 11, 2018. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 672.

The defect: Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 1999-2014 aerial devices models A65, A70, A75, A72-, A/77-T, A82-T, A72-TE88, and A77-TE93 manufactured January 1, 1999, to July 15, 2014. The affected aerial devices may have an improperly set hydraulic pressure transducer which relieves excessive backpressure in the hydraulic tank circuit.
The risk: In cooler temperatures, the improperly set hydraulic pressure transducer may result in inadvertent boom movement, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant or those nearby.
The remedy: Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace and install a pressure switch, free of charge. The recall began in January 16, 2015. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-205-991-7733. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 609.

The defect: Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2000-2013 Aerial Device and Digger Derrick trucks, equipped with Sure Power Battery Equalizers containing a particular epoxy sealing, aka 'potting', compound. The specific potting compound used in the subject products for insulation was found to be capable of conducting electricity after being exposed to heat.
The risk: Once electrically conductive, the material is capable of melting and burning, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace any affected battery equalizer, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in September 2014. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 603.

EQUIPMENT

Altec has learned that the hydraulic ball valve on the hydraulic reservoir return line of certain L42/45 M/P units built from February 2002 to November 2019 might not get returned to the open position after being turned to the closed position for maintenance. If the upper boom drive system is articulated while the ball valve is in the closed position, both upper boom drive cylinders could retract simultaneously causing the lower boom to buckle. The customer should order and install the Hydraulic Shutoff Valve Placard Kit. The kit must be installed by the next preventative maintenance interval, or within 90 days of receipt of this notice, whichever comes first.

Product advisory posted on our web site to inform owners, user, & operators that the new ANSI A92.2-2021 standard has taken effect and they must review. The standard has changed some of the responsibilities of the parties who use or operate vehicle mounted aerial devices.

Product Update Notice 2020B reminded customers that they may be unable to store necessary equipment in the body of the cutaway van without exceeding the rear axle capacity. For customers who are not satisfied with the remaining capacity of your vehicle, the tailshelf mounted generator and roof mounted air conditioning unit can be removed. Altec will provide kits to close the opening in the van roof and modify wiring after the generator is removed. Order the A/C Cover Sealing Service Kit, part number 991064376, and the Generator Plug Service Kit, part number 991063374 by calling 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832).
