My 2015 Chevrolet Camaro has developed a recurring issue where the ignition key becomes stuck and cannot be removed. The vehicle appears to believe it is still in gear even though the transmission has been placed in Park. The key jams in the ignition, making it difficult or impossible to remove. This occurs intermittently and raises concerns that the vehicle may not be properly recognizing that it is in Park. This is a significant safety issue because it could lead to the vehicle rolling if not properly secured, prevent the vehicle from being turned off correctly, and leave the driver stranded. I believe this may be related to the shift interlock or ignition switch mechanism. I am reporting this issue because it presents a potential safety hazard.

The car powered off on me while driving on the interstate causing an extremely dangerous situation for me and other drivers without any warning, no signs the vehicle abruptly stopped I coasted to the side and avoided traffic and started right up but drove rough. It’s fuel and fluids in the car and no check engine lights were on.

The radio was making loud popping electrical sounds and the instrument panel screen turned off. Also, while shifting the stereo continued to go off, and the turning signal chimes did not work . I took the vehicle to mechanic and was told that the entire stereo system was the problem and need to be replaced.. The failure had been reoccurring while driving. The manufacturer wasnt notified.. The vehicle has not been repaired vehicles was also taken to a local dealership for a second opinion and was told that the stereo wiring system has completely failed and the entire system needs to replace with a new dash kit and stereo!

The key is getting stuck in the ignition and is known as a recall but it’s saying not for this car. It’s expensive I don’t trust anyone with my car and this is stopping me from doing normal things for the day and night activities.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while the gear shifter was shifted to park(P), the key could only be turned halfway and became stuck. Due to the failure, the vehicle failed to shut off. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the gear shifter assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred two or three years later. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer where the gear shifter assembly was replaced, but the failure reoccurred approximately three to four years later. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired after the last failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have had multiple repair attempts that are being performed on customer’s vehicles that exhibit vibration conditions without utilizing the support of General Motors Technical Assistance Center. If valid vibration frequency or Road Force Variation data has been collected and a repair attempt does not correct the customer complaint, contact General Motors Technical Assistance Center for further support. For any vehicles that remains unrepaired after being at the dealer for three days or more and a related bulletin or PI is not found, contact General Motors Technical Assistance Center for further support.
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
