The defect: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2024 GL1800 (Goldwing), CBR600RR, and 2018-2019 CBR1000RR motorcycles. The fuel pump impellers may have been improperly molded, which can cause them to deform and result in fuel pump failure.
The risk: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump module as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed June 19, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's numbers for this recall are KP8, KP9, KQ0, and KQ1.

The defect: Honda (American Honda Motor Co) is recalling certain 2020-2022 GL1800 Gold Wing motorcycles equipped with manual transmissions. An ignition timing software error for the engine control unit (ECU) may reduce engine performance, which can result in an engine stall.
The risk: An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will update the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 28, 2022. Owners may contact American Honda Motor Co customer service at 1-866-784-1870.

This vehicle has a chronic issue with an unreliable parking brake. The brake is required to be engaged each time the motorcycle is parked since the motorcycle automatically puts it into neutral when the back is turned off. The ceases to hold the bike in place even on minimal inclines because of poor design. The brake requires replacement and/or adjusting every few months and is not reliable. I've had it replaced twice now in less than 1-year, and the Honda dealer will not cover the cost ($350) even though the motorcycle is under manufacturing warranty. It was bought new in 2022 from the Honda dealer (DFW Honda, Grapevine, TX) and has ~3000 miles. When researching the issue within Honda forums onlines, this is a chronic issue that everyone experiences and complains about with this motorcycle - Honda Goldwing DCT.
