The defect: Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling various 2003-2018 Crossroads, Dutchmen, and Keystone recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V755-5127.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. The risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
The remedy: Keystone will notify owners and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. The defect: Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2008-2009 Raptor recreational vehicles, models 3110 and 3018, equipped with IOTA ITS-50R transfer switches. These transfer switches may fail when exposed to elevated electrical loads in higher ambient temperatures.
The risk: If the transfer switch fails, it can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transfer switch, free of charge. The recall began on November 1, 2017. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 17-301.

The defect: Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 Big Sky, Challenger, Everest, Fuzion, Montana, and Raptor travel trailers and fifth wheels equipped with an IOTA ITS-50R transfer switch. These transfer switches, used in vehicles wired to be powered by a generator, may fail when exposed to elevated electrical loads and used in higher ambient temperatures.
The risk: As the transfer switch fails, it may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will replace the IOTA ITS-50R transfer switch with a different brand transfer switch, free of charge. The recall began on October 8, 2015. Owners may contact Keystone customer service by calling 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 15-234.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 KEYSTONE RAPTOR TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN ODOR OF PROPANE FUEL WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PROPANE LINE WAS DAMAGED BY CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THE TIRE, WHICH CAUSED IT TO LEAK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V132000 (EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE:LPG LINES AND FITTINGS). IN 2008 I PURCHASED A NEW 2008 38 FT. RAPTOR 3612 DS TOY HAULER FIFTH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILER, MANUFACTURED BY KEYSTONE RV. IN AUGUST OF 2010 I WAS TRAVELING ACROSS COUNTRY AND AT SOME POINT ALONG THE JOURNEY MY FULL 110 GALLON WATER TANK FELL OUT OF THE TRAILER AS I WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. AS THIS TRAILER IS LARGE AND LONG, I DID NOT FEEL THE TANK FALL OUT, SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT HAPPENED DURING THAT DAY AND AS I HAD TRAVELED OVER 300 MILES FROM START TO FINISH I HAD NO IDEA WHERE TO START LOOKING FOR THE TANK. AS I PULLED INTO A CAMPGROUND AT THE END OF THE DAY, A CAMPER NOTICED I HAD STUFF DRAGGING UNDERNEATH THE TRAILER. WE SET UP CAMP AND THEN I CRAWLED UNDER THE TRAILER TO FIND THE ENTIRE TANK MISSING AND ALL THE SUPPORTS HANGING DOWN. I GATHERED EVERYTHING UP THAT WAS REMAINING AND TIED IT UP IN PLACE SO I COULD CONTINUE MY TRIP HOME. THE NEXT DAY AFTER ARRIVING HOME I TOOK THE TRAILER INTO RUSS DEAN RV IN PASCO WASHINGTON, THE PLACE I PURCHASED THE TRAILER. I TOLD THEM ALTHOUGH THE TRAILER WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, I WANTED THEM TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AND TELL THEM I EXPECTED THEM TO FIX THIS AS I DIDN'T BELIEVE ITEMS LIKE A TANK FALLING OUT WAS SOMETHING A WARRANTY WAS DESIGNED FOR TO BEGIN WITH, IT IS A MAJOR STRUCTURAL FAILURE THAT SHOULD CONCERN THEM AS A MANUFACTURER. KEYSTONE RESPONDED BACK AND SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE AS THE TRAILER IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I DID EXPECT MORE FROM THIS COMPANY, AND I DO PLAN TO PURSUE IT FURTHER WITH THEM, BUT A MAJOR CONCERN I HAVE IS THIS TANK FALLING OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, COULD (MAYBE DID) CAUSE A LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT. I DON'T THINK THIS COMPANY HAS ANY INTENTION OF LOOKING INTO WHY THE FAILURE HAPPENED OR IF IT COULD HAPPEN WITH OTHER TRAILERS THEY HAVE MANUFACTURED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 KEYSTONE RAPTOR RV. THE CONTACT STATED THE LEAF SPRING CENTER BOLT WAS FRACTURING AND CAUSING THE AXLE TO SLIDE. WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR, THE WHEELS WOULD DRAG THE GROUND AND ONE TIRE WOULD BE ONE INCH FROM THE OTHER TIRE AND THE OTHER TIRES WOULD BE SIX TO SEVEN INCHES APART AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES WHERE THE LEAF SPRING BOLTS WERE REPLACED BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE AXLE WAS ALSO REPLACED AND FOUR TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.

2008 KEYSTONE RAPTOR 3600RL HAS SAFETY PROBLEMS WITH THE ROCKERS, HARDWARE, AND AXLES. *NJ THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE ROCKERS, HARDWARE AND AXLES WERE TOO LIGHTWEIGHT TO CARRY A LOAD THAT WAS BEING PUT ONTO THEM. THE CONSUMER STATED HE NOTICED THE REAR TIRE WAS BALD AND ANOTHER TIRE WAS SEVERELY WORN. THE CONSUMER CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THERE WERE NO OTHER PROBLEMS AND THAT'S WHEN HE DISCOVERED THE ROCKER HARDWARE, BOLTS, NUT BUSHINGS AND THE REAR AXLE WERE SEVERELY WORN FROM CONSTANT POUNDING ON THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS INOPERATIVE. *JB
