TRANSMISSION HOSE LEAK
THIS PE WAS OPENED FOR MODEL YEAR (MY) 2008 NISSAN MAXIMA VEHICLES BASED ON EARLY WARNING DATA THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COOLER HOSE MAY HAVE PINHOLES AND/OR CRACKS RESULTING IN A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK.THE LEAKED FLUID CAN CONTACT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND IGNITE.NISSAN HAS SHOWN THAT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PINHOLES AND/OR CRACKS IN THE HOSE IS EXCESSIVE STRESS DURING THE MANUFACTURE FORMING PROCESS RESULTING IN HOSE DEFORMATION AT LOADING ONTO A MANDREL, OR DAMAGE DURING UN-LOADING.REGARDING LOADING STRESS, NISSAN STATES, WHEN EXCESSIVE STRESS IS APPLIED WHILE LOADING THE HOSE ONTO THE MANDREL, HOSE DEFORMATION (WHICH LOOKS LIKE A BULGE) CAN OCCUR AROUND THE BENDING AREA.A CRACK WILL START TO FORM ON THE INSIDE OF THE HOSE AT THE AREA OF DEFORMATION.REGARDING UNLOADING STRESS, NISSAN STATES, AFTER THE CURING PROCESS, IN SOME INSTANCES THE HOSE STUCK TO THE MANDREL TIGHTLY AND THE OPERATOR HAD TO APPLY A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FORCE TO PULL THE HOSE FROM THE MANDREL.IF THIS OPERATION WAS PERFORMED ROUGHLY, THE INTERIOR OF THE HOSE COULD BE DAMAGED BY THE MANDREL EDGE. NISSAN ALSO STATES, BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE HOSES RECEIVED INTERNAL DAMAGE, A DAMAGED HOSE WAS PRODUCED AS A RARE, RANDOM EVENT RATHER THAN SYSTEMATICALLY.THE TRANSMISSION HOSE SUPPLIER, COOPER STANDARD AUTOMOTIVE, IMPLEMENTED PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS THAT LIMIT EXCESSIVE STRESS ON THE HOSE DURING MANUFACTURE. NISSAN HAS SHOWN THAT THIS TRANSMISSION COOLER HOSE WAS ASSEMBLED ON MY 2007 AND MY 2008 MAXIMA VEHICLES.NISSAN REDESIGNED THE TRANSMISSION COOLER HOSE ON MY 2009 MAXIMA, AND THE HOSE IS MANUFACTURED BY A NEW SUPPLIER.NISSAN HAS ALSO SHOWN THAT THE LEAKS MOSTLY OCCUR WITHIN THE FIRST 2000 MILES OF SERVICE WITH A SEVERE DROP IN INCIDENTS BEYOND 2000 MILES OF SERVICE.MOST LEAKS HAVE ALREADY OCCURRED, AND THE ONE FIRE WAS MINOR. A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED AT THIS TIME AND FURTHER USE OF AGENCY RESOURCES DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE WARRANTED.ACCORDINGLY THIS INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED.THE CLOSING OF THIS INVESTIGATION DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A FINDING BY NHTSA THAT NO SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT EXISTS.THE AGENCY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TAKE FURTHER ACTION IF WARRANTED BY THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle in the morning, the vehicle would start after several attempts. The contact stated that he opened the hood and checked the battery and became aware that both battery terminals were corroded. The contact cleaned the terminals and still had issues with starting the vehicle. Additionally, the steering wheel had locked. The contact was unable to unlock the steering wheel. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that inserting the key in the ignition switch would not start the vehicle, and the key fob ignition option had also failed to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the steering wheel remained locked. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the residence and was no longer drivable. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V402000 (Steering). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated while driving at highway speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as designed. The vehicle jerked and then stopped. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.

Front driver and passenger side rust and corrosion under the car

I'm not sure what happened but all I know is my turns over but will not start. It has new battery, new alternator, both camshaft position sensors replaced. It has been at the mechanic shop for 2 weeks and they can't figure out the program. I have heard that the security system may have locked up on it preventing it from cranking but I am not sure but all I know is I don't have the money to get it towed or fixed now cuz I have already had to pay to get it towed and the shop. Please help me

THE INTELLIGENT KEY IS NOT BEING RECOGNIZED BY THE VEHICLE. ACTS AS IF THE KEY IS NOT WITHIN THE READING RANGE. THIS CAUSES THE DOORS TO STAY LOCKED/UNLOCKED WHEN USING THE FOB. ALSO, THE IGNITION WILL NOT TURN EVEN THOUGH THE FOB IS IN THE CAR. THE ACTUAL KEY HAS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE FOB IN ORDER TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE.

WHEN DRIVING THE CAR WOULD LOOSE POWER AND NOT ACCELERATE. DRIVING ONTO ON RAMP TO HIGHWAY AND CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STARTED TO LOOSE SPEED WHILE MERGING. NO LIGHTS CAME ON DASH OR ANYTHING. SEEMS LIKE THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE OR SOMETHING.

MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2007 NISSAN MAXIMA FROM B.M.W AUTO DALLAS LLC. THE VEHICLE WAS ADVERTISED AS HAVING 137,000 MILES. DESPITE OTHER ISSUES WITH THE CAR, THE DECIDING FACTOR FOR THE PURCHASE WAS THE LOW MILES. AFTER PURCHASE, OUR MECHANIC DISCOVERED WHAT HE DESCRIBED AS "SHADY BUSINESS" UNDER THE HOOD AND RECOMMENDED WE CHECK THE VIN THROUGH CARFAX, AUTOCHECK, ETC. WE PURCHASED AN AUTOCHECK VEHICLE REPORT AND DISCOVERED THE ODOMETER WAS ROLLED BACK. FROM 166K IN 2016 TO 112K IN 1018. THE DEALER DID NOT DISCLOSE INFORMATION THAT WOULD HAVE IMPACTED PRICE, AT A MINIMUM AND OUR OVERALL BUYING DECISION. THE MILEAGE FRAUD ALSO IMPACTS THE FUTURE SELLING PRICE OF THE VEHICLE.

I STARTED MY CAR UP ON 12/11/2019 AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS BEEN FLASHING SINCE WITH NO ACCIDENT. I'M AFRAID MY AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
