I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SOME MAINTENANCE/REPAIR TO THE FRONT AXLE ON 1/16/2020 AND THE MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE SUBFRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BY THE FRONT TIRE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE HE CAN PUSH HIS FINGER THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE FRAME. HE TOLD ME HE COULD NOT BELIEVE I HAD NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IN HIS OPINION HITTING A MEDIUM SIZE CHUCKHOLE IN THE ROADWAY COULD CAUSE THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY COLLAPSE. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THIS DID NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT AND HAS BEEN ONGOING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE AT MY HOME DURING ITS USE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME AND NOT ROUTINELY LEFT PARKED ON THE STREET. THE MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT IN HIS OPINION IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE VERY FAR.

The vehicle specific number must appear on all communication and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign. DEALER RESPONSIBILITY It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service COMM or Dealer Business Systems (DBS) National Service History for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory. Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While federal law applies only to new vehicles, Nissan strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed. This bulletin has been amended.
