Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

The DPF system failed prematurely at 68k. My truck as working fine with zero problems until I took it in for the Y43 safety recall July 2025. the dealership performed the software update without verifying if parts were in stock first. They took the part (dpf module) off a used truck from the lot and installed it on mine without asking me first. They told me they would call me when the parts became available. They never called so I took it in for a battery issue were the batteries were overheating and dying. I asked that they replace the used part and look into the fried battery issue. Knowing how this dealership operates I went ahead and marked the old part with nail polish. when I was called to pick up my truck I met with the GM and he assured me everything was taken care of and the new DPF Module was replaced. I got under my truck and the used part as still there. The GMs face went pale and couldn't believe that they had lied. He asked that I leave it so he could make things right. They replaced the DPF module and the batteries. I met with the service manager and he took full responsibility for the lies and theft. ( I have the conversation recorded). I went back a few days later to ask why my truck kept doing Regens like every 3 days and they informed me it was normal. fast forward to July 2006 same issues batteries fried and died then the DPF notification came up saying "DEF Filter Full Power Reduced See Dealer". I take it back to the same dealership and they informed me my DPF filter is full and I must pay $3800 out of pocket because the recall didn't cover it and neither does the extended warranty. I asked them how is it possible for my DPF filter to be full if all the REGENS are performed and the message will NOT clear until the region is complete. my filter never showed it was getting full and it never surpassed the 40 percent full and its impossible for it to be full from one day to the other. I took it to another dodge and stellantis refused to fix it.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving 30-35 MPH, the steering wheel failed to turn to the left or the right. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Action Number: PE26002. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that there was a loss of power steering assist function, which was caused by water intruding into the power steering module connector. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a loss of power steering assist caused by water intrusion into the power steering module connector. The dealer informed the contact that there was no warranty coverage on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer confirmed that there was no warranty coverage for the repair. My vehicle was brought to my dealership for service on December 13, 2024, and again on January 13, 2026, due to a recurring Uconnect software/application failure. The system repeatedly displayed the message: “Uconnect Box requires service. Please visit an authorized dealer.” Over time this message continuously reappears while driving even after acknowledging the message earlier. This message would overlay critical driving information such as navigation, engine status, and trailer towing data. This message forces the driver to divert my attention from the road to locate and press “OK” on the screen, creating an ongoing and unacceptable safety hazard. I believe this distraction qualifies as a valid safety issue, under the NATSA guidelines for

All other pages operate as intended.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
