The defect: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram 4500, and Ram 5500 vehicles. The steering column control module may cause the driver's side air bag not to deploy as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
The risk: A driver's side air bag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will replace the steering column control module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 11, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 14C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 13, 2025.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

The defect: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Dodge Durango, 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, Chrysler Voyager, 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Ram Promaster vehicles. The radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
The risk: A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will update the radio software or the software will be OTA, "Over-The-Air," free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 9, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's numbers for this recall are 66B and 79B.

The defect: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Dodge Durango and Ram 2500 and 3500 vehicles. Due to a software malfunction, the ABS control module may disable the electronic stability control system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."
The risk: Driving with a disabled electronic stability control system can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will update the ABS control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 11, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 55B.

Loss of Power Steering Assist

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 19 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging an intermittent or complete failure of the power steering assist system in certain Model Year (MY) 2022-2023 RAM ProMaster 1500, 2500, and 3500 vehicles. Failure of the power steering assist system can result in increased steering effort required to control the vehicle. An increase in steering effort can potentially lead to a loss of directional control of the vehicle. Several received reports allege failures of the steering rack with specific reports citing water intrusion into the electrical connectors of the electric power steering control module. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to assess the scope and root cause of potential defects in 2022-2023 RAM ProMaster steering systems. 2022 RAM Transmission Snap Ring Failure

The Office of Defect Investigations (ODI) has received 82 complaints alleging loss of motive power due to an internal transmission failure of the K1 snap ring in model year 2022 Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 vehicles. Of these complaints, 16 describe a complete loss of motive power at speeds greater than 25 miles per hour, without the ability for the vehicle to resume normal operation. The subject vehicles can be up-fit as an ambulance and other emergency response vehicle or may be heavily loaded when used for towing. During the failure event, the snap ring becomes dislodged and forward gears 1-4 are no longer functional, potentially leaving the vehicle disabled in or near the roadway and/or negatively affect the emergency mission. ODI contacted the manufacturer, FCA US, LLC d/b/a Stellantis North America (FCA), and learned that technical service bulletin (TSB) TSB-21-002-23 is related to the alleged defect condition. Additionally, FCA has conducted dynamometer and field testing and has explained to ODI that during the event a warning message will display to the operator, and gear 5 and reverse will remain available. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to evaluate the severity of the potential problem and to fully assess the potential safety-related problems. Fire reported

On the morning of August 29th around 8:10am the Ram truck caught fire under the hood with the engine/ignition off, after it was driven around the yard lot and shut off. The fire seems to have originated in the center of the engine on the drivers side of the cylinder head. Mimicking the same patterns as the recall #13A in regards to the heated grid recall that was performed in March of 2025, @121338 miles. The truck now has 157032 miles. The driver was able to extinguish the fire before the fire spread beyond the engine bay. the truck is currently locked up on site at our facility.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH while making a left turn, the steering wheel suddenly jerked to the left and the right. The EPS warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while in reverse, the steering wheel jerked and became firm. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, while driving at various speeds and making a left or right turn, the brakes unintendedly activated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,169.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the contact unhooked the camper that was being towed and shifted the vehicle to drive(D) but the vehicle failed to move forward or backwards while in reverse(R). The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Action Number: PE24009 (Power Train). The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

While travelling in Southern California, I came to a stop to enter I8 on ramp. When I tried to start down the on ramp the truck didn’t want to move and a check engine light came on. The truck went into limp mode so would travel slowly along. I called Mango Auto who could diagnose it the following morning. I did not make it to the shop before the transmission failed completely and the truck wouldn’t move leaving me in traffic in a dangerous spot. Eventually I was towed to the shop in Yuma AZ. They diagnosed it as a complete transmission failure requiring a $10,000 replacement. FCA has issued an extended warranty, but my mileage is 16700 miles over. FCA has a technical bulletin on the issue with the Austin transmission, but has not but should have issued a recall. This failure To issue a recall left me stuck in a dangerous situation and could have resulted in a crash.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine made abnormal knocking and ticking sounds. The knocking and ticking sounds became louder while accelerating. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the piston had ingested the grid heater nut. The mechanic replaced the piston, cylinder head assembly, gaskets, rod, gasket intake, Hamilton flat tappet conversion kit, and XDP grid heater. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,745.
