Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.

Driver assistance
Filed Jul 28, 2026

The backup camera system malfunctioned, resulting in a blank or distorted display screen when the vehicle is placed in reverse. This system failure deprives the driver of rear visibility and disables the rear parking collision warning, creating a safety hazard when backing up. I previously brought the vehicle to an authorized Chrysler dealership while under factory warranty specifically to report this backup camera failure, but the dealership noted they "could not duplicate" the problem at that time. The camera was later replaced, but the same defect has reoccurred. Mopar portal records confirm the dealership service visits, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

I bought my car, Chrysler 300 2021 at the Hemet CA Dealership in 2021. Hemet Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. The car presented with several issues including, difficulty starting, engine misfires, stalling, and decreased fuel efficiency. The low fuel warning light on my car's dashboard would not come on when gas was low at all, until it left me stranded in the freeway far away from home and a dealership. I had to take it in to closest car service center to have the fuel pump replaced. These fuel pumps should last for 100,000 miles or more. My car had only 69,101 miles. The gas level on the dashboard was stuck at the level when I added gas the last time, again not indicating that it needed more gas. I do not see any recalls issued on FUEL PUMP for my cars year, make and model. But a lot of people have reported the same issues. Can someone respond to this email? I want Chrysler to understand that this is not acceptable. This issue should be part of a recall. Seat belts
Filed Mar 13, 2025

About 2 months ago the passenger seatbelt in my vehicle just tore out of nowhere. The seam seemed to unravel and it completely broke. Took it to get repaired had some issue but my complaint today is to help save someone from this or maybe others may have had same issue. The seatbelt was poorly made or defective. It could have gone bad but nobody was injured and it took them a fight to fix,it, and never received an apology.

My car turns off periodically while I’m driving and when I’m stopped at a light. This is random, so I didn’t even go on freeways from fear the car will stop suddenly in heavy traffic and I be killed or injured badly I have taken it to the dealer and they keep saying nothing is wrong, last time they kept car for 3 days and said nothing found. I fear for my life, don’t even want to drive the vehicle anymore . It’s happened for the last months I strongly feel, they were waiting for my warranty to expire so they kept saying nothing wrong

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
