Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

Tires & wheels

2018 Georgetown RV Motorhome equipped with G670 RV UTL tires/245/70R19.5. The tires on the front (D&P side) have the DOT data omitted (see photo) and the two outer rear tires have the DOT data, and the inter two rear tires are unknown at this time. Since I had tires with the DOT data missing, I contacted Goodyear Customer Relations at Akron, OH on Sept 17, 2024 with my concern. Goodyear replied with "Currently, we do not have any tires on recall. If you have a problem or are concerned about your tires we would recommend visiting your nearest authorized Goodyear retailer for an inspection for your peace of mind." As a consumer, I know that date data (made/expired) is required. Therefore, kindly request the NHTSA clarify this DOT matter to whether tires require a DOT stamp? Those without a DOT stamp, safe or not safe?

WE HAVE HAD A SEPARATION OF THE SIDEWALL FROM THE VEHICLE FRAME. IT APPEARS FROM THE ENTRANCE DOOR GOING FORWARD OVER THE FRONT TIRE. IT LOOKS LIKE SCREWS THAT HOLD THE WALL TO THE FRAMEWORK HAVE BROKEN. THERE IS A GAP UNDER THE ENTRANCE DOOR THRESHOLD PLATE AND LOOKING INSIDE YOU CAN SEE A GAP OF ABOUT 1/4 INCH BETWEEN THE FLOOR EDGE AND THE WALL. I HAVE A PICTURE OR 2 TO SHARE. WE NOTICED THIS WHILE PARKED IN A SPACE WE RENTED FROM CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY WHILE THERE ATTENDING A AUTOMOTIVE EVENT CALLED THE CHARLOTTE AUTO FAIR. MY WIFE WAS ENTERING THE RV AND NOTICED IT FIRST. WE HAD DRIVEN THE NIGHT BEFORE FROM DANVILLE, VA. A TRIP OF ABOUT 2 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES VIA THE RTE I-85 AND RTE 29 FROM DANVILLE . ITS A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AS WELL AS I-85. OUR RV HAS ABOUT 7500 MILES ON IT AND IT'S A GEORGETOWN GT 36 B 5 MODEL. WHERE I ENTERED THE SPEED I WAS TRAVELING WHEN IT HAPPENED, THAT'S FROM THE TRIP I TOOK GOING TO WHERE I WAS. I WAS SITTING STILL WHEN I NOTICED IT. *DT *DT *DT CONSUMER STATED SCREWS THAT HOLD THE WALL TO THE FRAMEWORK ARE BEHIND THIS MOLDING. MOST OF THE LOOSE SCREWS SEEM TO BE FROM THE FRONT TO AN AREA AT THE STEPS WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE GAP UNDER THE THRESHOLD PLATE. LAYING UNDER THE RV NEAR THE TIRE, I CAN SEE THAT THERE IS A SPACE OF ABOUT QUARTER INCH OR BETTER BETWEEN THE WALL AND THE FRAME AND YOU CAN SEE THE SCREWS IN THAT GAP AS WELL. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. INVALID VIN*JB

Manufacturer communications

A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.

680488

STRUCTURE

There is a potential sealant issue that needs to be addressed on your vehicle. The potential for this issue will allow water infiltration into the vehicle roof.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
