The defect: Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling various 2003-2018 Crossroads, Dutchmen, and Keystone recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V755-5127.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. The risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
The remedy: Keystone will notify owners and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. The defect: Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 Big Sky, Challenger, Everest, Fuzion, Montana, and Raptor travel trailers and fifth wheels equipped with an IOTA ITS-50R transfer switch. These transfer switches, used in vehicles wired to be powered by a generator, may fail when exposed to elevated electrical loads and used in higher ambient temperatures.
The risk: As the transfer switch fails, it may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will replace the IOTA ITS-50R transfer switch with a different brand transfer switch, free of charge. The recall began on October 8, 2015. Owners may contact Keystone customer service by calling 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 15-234.

The defect: ON CERTAIN FIFTH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILERS, THE PROPANE HOSE FOR THE SLIDE ROOM IS TOO LONG ALLOWING THE HOSE TO DROOP TOO CLOSE TO THE TIRE. THE PROPANE LINE MAY BECOME DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF CONTACT WITH THE TIRE.
The risk: A PROPANE LEAK, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE AND/OR EXPLOSION CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PROPANE HOSE WITH ONE OF SHORTER LENGTH AND WILL ALSO SHORTEN THE HOSE SUPPORT TO MOVE THE HOSE AWAY FROM THE TIRE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 1, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KEYSTONE RV AT 1-866-425-4369.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 KEYSTONE FUZION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V561000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT SMELLED AN ODOR COMING FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAMPER IN THE STORAGE AREA. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TRANSFER SWITCH INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DECLINED THE RECALL REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

TOWING 5TH WHEEL CAMPER DOWN INTERSTATE. ALL 4 TIRES ON TRAILER DEVELOPED BULGES AND 2 BLEW OUT. DAMAGE WASN'T TOO BAD BUT CAUSED A MAJOR DISRUPTION IN TRAVEL. HAD TO BUY 4 NEW TIRES FOR CAMPER.

3.5 HOURS INTO TRIP FROM ROSEVILLE, CA TO SAND MOUNTAIN, NV, WE STOPPED AT PILOT TRUCK STOP TO RENDEZVOUS WITH OTHERS IN GROUP. NO POTHOLES/CURBS HAD BEEN ENCOUNTERED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY A 45 MINUTE STOP, WE STARTED AGAIN, AND AS WE ACCELERATED TO 60MPH ON I-80, 1MILE EAST OF FERNLEY, THE FRONT AXLE-RIGHT TIRE BLEW OUT. WE PULLED OFF AT NEXT EXIT. THE TIRE'S CENTER BELT HAD SEPARATED, DAMAGING THE CENTER AXLE TIRE, AND PROPANE LINES TO TRAILER. TIRES WERE CHECKED AND INFLATED TO 80PSI BEFORE STARTING TRIP. *TR

ON JULY 16, 2009 WE WERE HEADING IN OUT IN OUR FIFTH WHEEL, WE WERE ON I-15 HEADING SOUTH IN UTAH AND ONE OF OUR TIRES HAD A BLOW OUT, WE CALLED OUR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE CAME AND INSTALLED OUR SPARE TIRE. THEN UPON RETURNING BACK HOME ON JULY 19, 2009 WE HAD ANOTHER TIRE BLOW OUT ON THE SAME SIDE OF OUR FIFTH WHEEL, THIS TIME THE OTHER TIRE WENT AND WE HAD NO SPARE BECAUSE IT WAS ON OUR RV ALREADY. THE TIRE ARE JUST OVER A YEAR OLD AND THEY DON'T HAVE MORE THAN 2500 MILES ON THEM. WE HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE FROM THE ROADSIDE SERVICE THAT CAME AND HE LOOKED AT OUR REMAINING TWO TIRES ON THE LEFT SIDE AND SAID WE BETTER REPLACE THEM BEFORE OUR NEXT TRIP AND THEY WERE NOT GOOD TIRES. THE BLOW OUT HAPPENED ON I-15 IN UTAH AND ON STATE ROAD 28 IN UTAH BY LEVAN. THE BLOWOUT HAPPENED ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE OF OUR RV ON TWO DIFFERENT DAYS. THE SECOND BLOWOUT CAUSED DAMAGE TO OUR FIFTH WHEEL, IT TORE OF THE METAL SIDE WALL, BUSTED A LIGHT, DAMAGED THE GAS LINE AND THE UNDER OR BOTTOM WALL OF OUR FIFTH WHEEL. WE ARE WORRIED THAT THE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT LOOKED INTO. WE FIND IT ODD THAT WE HAD TWO BLOWOUT IN THE SAME TRIP. THANK YOU, SHANE AND WENDY MURRAY *TR
