I HAVE A 1984 CHEVY CORVETTE THAT HAS THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT RETRACTOR JAMMED. I FOUND THE RECALL IN YOUR DATABASE (91V143 CAMPAIGN #91C26). I SPOKE WITH MY DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T SERVICE RECALLS OVER 10 YEARS OLD AND CAN'T GET THE PART ANYWAY. I CALLED THE 1-800-222-1020 GM NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DON'T HAVE INFO FOR CARS OVER 10 YEARS OLD, SO THEY HAVE NO WAY TO VERIFY IF THIS IS OPEN FOR ME. MY VIN NUMBER IS CLEARLY WITHIN THE BREAKPOINTS AND I AM HAVING THIS ISSUE. I THOUGHT THAT GM HAD TO HONOR SAFETY RECALLS AND THEY DIDN'T EXPIRE EVER. NOW MY PASSENGER HAS NO WORKING SEATBELT. *TR

Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR
REAR LIFT WINDOW HARD TO OPEN/HINGE LOOSE TO GLASS. *TW
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
