Original equipment radio failed to operate and dome light and other electrical components are not functioning. Dealer has no parts to repair the safety recall which are to be supplied by Toyota .
THE DRIVERS SIDE SHOULDER HARNESS HAS FROZE IN THE LOCKED POSITION. TRIED TO REPAIR AND FOUND OUT NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO REPAIR AND NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I RECEIVED A TICKET AND ELECTED TO MANUALLY SLIP IT OVER MY EACH TIME.. THIS REALLY SUCKS BECAUSE IT IS A LOW MILE WELL CARED FOR CAR. TOYOTA SHOULD HELP....GOOD LUCK WITH THAT..............
SHORTLY AFTER INSTALLING A SPECTRA PREMIUM REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK ON MY 1991 CAMRY, THE VENT TUBE LEAKED FUEL AND VAPORS DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE JOINT WHERE THE VAPOR TUBE IS SOLDERED TO THE TANK. A HAIRLINE CRACK AT THIS JOINT WAS EITHER PRESENT AT MANUFACTURE, OR DEVELOPED SOON AFTER INSTALL, THROUGH WHICH SIGNIFICANT VAPOROUS AND LIQUID GASOLINE ESCAPED. THIS IS A FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD AS WELL AS A HEALTH AND AIR POLLUTION HAZARD. I CALLED SPECTRA PREMIUM TO ALERT THEM TO THIS AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST ME AND DID NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS AND MESSAGES. THE COMPANY BASICALLY JUST BLEW ME OFF AND SEEMS TO CARE LESS ABOUT A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. I HAD TO USE TWO PART EPOXY TO SEAL THE HAIRLINE CRACK AS AN INTERIM FIX. *TR
TL-THE DRIVER OWNED A 1991 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 90 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER WAS KILLED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VWB UPDATED 06/24/10 *BF ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE CONSUMER SLID OFF THE ROAD TO THE LEFT AND THEN SLID BACK OFF THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT AND BEGAN TO ROLL TO ITS LEFT. THE VEHICLE THEN STRUCK A TREE AND SEPARATED. THE BACK HALF CAME TO REST FACING NORTH ON ITS LEFT SIDE AGAINST THE TREE. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST BEHIND THE TREE FACING NORTH. RADIATOR BLEW UP, REPLACED IT, THEN CRACKED INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET, REPLACED IT, THEN BLOWN HEAD GASKET, REPLACED IT, THEN RADIATOR HOSES BLEW, REPLACED IT, THEN THERMOSTAT WENT OUT, REPLACED IT, AND IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN (THERMOSTAT), REPLACED IT, THEN COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR WENT OUT, REPLACED IT, AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN, THEN ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WENT OUT THAT LEAD TO THE RADIATOR AND FAN SYSTEM TO THE FUSE BOX RELAYS. SO ALL IN ALL ITS JUNK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1991 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 56000.
MY CAR: 1991 TOYOTA CAMRY. THREE TIMES WENT INTO EXCESSIVE HIGH SPEED WITH ME AND THIRD TIME BLEW THE HEAD GASKET. MY (MASTER) MECHANIC UPON REPAIRING THE CAR, TEST DROVE THE CAR AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME UNCONTROLLED HIGH SPEED. TESTING THE NEXT DAY HE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I SOLD THE CAR TO A JUNK YARD SINCE I DID NOT TRUST IT. *TR
